I just came across this in iTunes. It’s a so-called iTunes Artist Essential Collection of The Black Keys. Seems it was released 7 April 2009.
I’m not sure who picks this collection. I wouldn’t have thought they were the most popular Black Keys songs or well known.
It could be they are just songs re-packaged for a fan wanting an overview of the band who doesn’t want to invest in buying all the albums. Couldn’t really call it greatest hits either.
If this is iTunes “Essential” mix, what would your top 14 songs be? Leave a comment with songs you think are essential listening.
Personally, I don’t know how they left off The Lengths and The Breaks.

a good portion of the songs on the itunes are some of my favs. i like the songs that aren’t the most popular. but being a essential mix, i think they should have included 10 am automatic, girl on my mind, and thickfreakness
It would be good to see Hard Row, No Trust, Just a Little Heat, Girl on my Mind and Thickfreakness somewhere in the mix.

Totally did it to sell as many copies as possible! All to standard really. I don’t think I could pick 14 Black Keys songs as I don’t think I can pick out a bad song they have ever done! But I would be happy if ‘Grown So ugly’ was on there.
I have to say I’m a johnny come lately. Listened to Brothers once and went out and bought the cd which I never do. Just realized they had 6 freakin albums before Brothers, my son got them for me and have to say the list pretty much is accurate except for a couple on and a couple off. But then I’m not really a spring chicken they remind me of my 20′s in a good way.
