It'll be interesting to see what type of sound they some out with. I can't imagine the next album being released before the end of the year. WB will probably want to do a ton of promotion for it beforehand. So maybe spring 2014 release? As long as it's good, and worth the wait, i can wait. What would really be cool is if they played something new when i see them at the Forecastle Festival July 13th. But, they typically don't do that so whatever.

Ah, yes the ol' Town and Country. I have one - it is buried somewhere in the post your gear thread. It can be a crap shoot with those things. It is older than my mom and the neck isn't in great shape but you can tell those pickups had a rad sound in their prime (still good, but age hasn't been great for them).

Man, assuming it is the same guitar, I was really close to pulling the trigger when I saw it on ebay too. But due to it not being stock, I passed since I had to keep in mind that if I ever resold it down the line, people would try to lowball me saying its missing the coveted Valco pickups. Must be a killer guitar if they're using it in the studio now though!

congrats! And wow, didn't expect the lips to be bad. That being said, i fucking hate their latest album. If it were all new songs, I could see it.

But yeah, Cage the Elephant opened up for the Keys last time I saw em, and they were the same way. The Keys always sound amazing live, though.

As there hasn't been any big release of documentation from the studio sessions, it would be difficult to say exactly what pedals, amps, guitars, and mics were used for every song. The best we can do is look at what was used live during each album's corresponding tour, the few studio photographs, and judge things by ear. There are many threads on the forum, so I suggest you delve in and take a look.

Show was good. Seems like a pretty standard set, did not look at one before the show because I wanted to be surprised (never saw the boys before). Loved the duo stuff.

On a side note, the Flaming Lips were the WORST band I have ever seen live. I called them a musical nightmare. Wayne Coyne is a doofus and their fans are wacky. Did not understand a word he sang and he spent the whole show stroking a baby doll.

First off, great show. Well worth the 3 hour drive (each way) from Louisville.

Flaming Lips were as weird as ever. Wayne held and caressed a baby doll for a lot of the set. They sounded good, but the Keys/Lips combo doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Keys killed it, same setlist as I've seen for most non-festival shows, so no real suprises but that didn't make a difference to me. Of course, the crowd exploded when Dan said "we're gonna do a few songs now, just the two of us." Highlights for me were the extended intro to Girl is on my Mind, the blistering version of Your Touch (my personal favorite) and the giant disco ball during the encore of Everlasting Light.

Also, this:

Well, no luck with Gary Clark Jr.'s 2013 RSD HWUL rare cuts Vol.II. But i DID find a sealed copy of his 2012 RSD Double LP Blak and Blu. It was marked down from 22 to 12$. <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

haha thanks for the tip.

Last night I got frustrated and deleted all my PMs and behold the new ones started popping up.

Weird system considering it says there are two pages worth of PMs and the second page is blank.

Yeah, did you get my pm? I'd post it on here, but I don't want brucini to have problems with all this copyright nonsense.

For some reason my Private Messages don't work. It has said I have 3 new ones for the last few months and when I open it they just show me ancient ones.

If it's not too much trouble could you email me?

Honestly man try it, it's basically where heavy soul is played, the first bend is pretty much identical lol. I'm pretty certain it's D standard.

D standard is DGCFAD so the A is tuned down to a G, makes a lot more sense in D standard to me.

He tunes it to G because he hits the open strings between notes, and that makes the open strings a G chord. Also, I find the fingering a bit easier when the low A string is tuned down to G.
