I like the Way Huge Aqua Puss.

Couldn't agree more. Hell, with only 300ms of Delay what else can you use it for?

Couple more things...

There is apparently an internal trimpot that adjusts the sound of the "MOD" feature. I didn't mention it before but the mod feature is controlled by an on/off button on the upper lefthand corner of the pedal - it has it's own blue LED which indicates on/off, and it basically adds a subtle chorus effect that simulates tape warble. So the trimpot inside allows you to tweak the intensity of this effect.

The input/output jacks are the cheap-ass kind that you see on Dunlop crybaby wahs. They are easily cross threaded if you aren't very careful when disassembling/assembling. This is my biggest complaint so far. I would've liked higher quality jacks, and wouldn't mind paying slightly more for them, but we'll have to wait and see if they become an issue or not. I don't tour or anything so I'm guessing they'll be just fine.

Oh and I'm using mine with the Dunlop 9volt wall adapter as a power source. For what that's worth.

Bought the Carbon Copy analog delay and boy is it ever sweeeet! <img src="http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_mrgreen.gif" title="" class="bb_smilies" /> It's on sale on MF right now for $121 and my local Guitar Center actually price matched with no hassle at all. I hadn't been in that shop in years and was doubting they'd honor the price match, but it went real smooth.

The delay is great and I dig it more than the Danelectro Reel Echo that I used most recently (sold it a few months ago). I only played around with it for a couple hours and I left it at my buddy's place with all of my gear (we jam over there) - but I found several nice settings after I spent time with it.

When I first plugged into it I wasn't really feeling it. It seemed quiet and kind of weak but once I got more familiar with the knobs it started to really kick some ass. The mix knob needs to be turned up more than most delay pedals I've used - it's mostly quiet/subtle at any setting under 12 o clock, but once you get past that it gets nice and loud/obvious. It did a great slapback sound that was sounding perfect with some palm muted rockabilly riffs - can cop a great "Dan" slapback for sure. I prefer this pedal's slapback to the Danelectro Reel Echo slapback. They're both very good but I don't like the "color" that the Reel Echo added to my tone - made everything sound kinda generic. I think the Carbon Copy also colors your tone a bit but in a very good musical/organic way.

The CC also does great freakout self oscillation. I've had a couple other pedals that could do that (Ibanez DE7 for example), but the CC sounds way more musical and usable to my ears. It has also has a great range - each knob has a wide yet usable range. Oh and the Carbon Copy is nice and small so if you're trying to save room on your pedalboard, you'll be pleased.

The CC is SOLID/HEAVY and feels very well built. Has a very "boutique" feel/vibe to it. A dark green sparkle/metallic paintjob, bright blue LED, DIY style rubber sticky feet on bottom, quality screws holding on the backplate, etc. It's obvious that MXR designed it to cater to the increasingly popular boutique pedal market.

In short, there are plenty of quality delay options out there - but this Carbon Copy suits me very well - better than anything else I've tried thus far. You can't do much better, and you can definitely do a lot worse. Try before you buy whenever possible, but this is certainly one worth trying if you are in the market for an analog delay or similar.

I also endorse the Danelectro. Fulltone is the best out there but it's only good for recording. Impractical to bring it on the road or bedroom practice with it.

Another option - EH Memory Toy (analog delay)

Never tried one but it seems to fit the bill.

my two recommendations for slap would be the Boss DM-3, which is my only delay at the moment, it provides a nice crisp echo that doesn't sound too dark or smeary, and it can handle being hit by a boost or preamp or fuzz! You definitely have to look used for these. Luckily I landed mine through a buddy that turned me on to these

I've also heard great things about the Strymon El Capistan delay. Crazy versitile, has been hailed as the most tape-like delay in a stomp box by many people. It's a little pricey, but it doesn't even begin to touch the price of a fulltone TTE, not to mention the upkeep for one!

For ease of availability, the Line6 DL4 is a great delay, I used one for eight years, I just never really dug the size and the operation, but it sounded pretty good.

Carbon Copy for me. Does the job and it's reasonably priced. (comparatively)
