"At 9 p.m., vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach — a dead ringer for actor Ryan Gosling — and his drummer, Patrick Carney, hit the stage."

Had no idea who that was, just google image searched- BWAAAHAHAHA!
I don't see the resemblence...

Cool. Thanks for posting. Didn't mean to make fun of anyone. Just had to laugh at that. I know it isn't easy to write reviews.

I'm honestly considering selling my tix for Denver if there is no report of a set list change. I remember the last two shows I went to vividly. I can always channel those memories.

I am surprised that they havent yet started to implement whatever "changes" they plan to make to their live shows. I can't imagine them flipping the switch the show after Brothers is released and having all the bugs worked out. I would still go to the show if it's the same list as before, it IS a Keys show , which are always good. But i'd be dissapointed at not seeing the "NEW" show.

I think there's an issue with them playing new material before release date.

MMJ played their new stuff on tour before Evil Urges came out, and then people were posting the shit all over the web, and MMJ got pissed because the way the songs are played live are different than the album, obviously. And if someone sees a youtube video or hears a shitty recording of a live show, they might get the wrong idea and decide they don't like the new album and therefore not buy the album when it comes out.

It's a far-fetched idea but I think record companies feel this way, and so do some bands. MMJ was very upset about the whole thing and even posted shit on their website whining about it and sent out an email, etc. It said something about fans being impatient and ruining the whole album release process and the songs they played live were not ready/up-to-par with the studio version, blah blah blah, etc.

That's my idea of why no new songs being played live yet.

Or put on your Live at Crystal Ballroom DVD.

speaking of- I LOOOOVE that fuzz on the dvd when they do Same Old Thing. So sputtery... Green Muff goodness.

Oh and Denver show is June 3rd right? You will see the changes by then, no doubt. I'm telling you - they won't do the new stuff until the album drops. Watch.

The fuzz on Same Old Thing on that DVD is great. I'd Love to be able to crank a big old amp like that and hit it with a dirty fuzz! I'm sure I would be banished from my neighborhood fast...I would just say, "but I pointed my amp away from the crowd"..but I guess that wouldn't work?

I'll be pretty excited for the "new" stage show for when they come here in August. Yeah it will be an outdoor venue, but not a typical big festival type outdoor show. I'm just curious why the booking people didn't try to get them into an indoor venue...there's quite a few of them here in all different capacities.
