is anyone else going tonight? Im pretty excited to see them again based on the reviews of the shows this year. I woke up today to a text telling me I was chosen as a winner to go into the Soundcheck party and hopefully meet the band!!! I hope I get to stay in there so I can have a spot on the rail.

Just got back from the show and it was unbelievable. I got to meet Dan and Pat before hand at a catered meet and greet. after that I managed to snake my way through the thick crowd up to my brother and friend in the front row right in front of dan's mic. She's Long Gone was just crazy good then when the four piece band became a two piece again all hell broke loose. Your Touch started and the crowd exploded in cheers. I was constantly watching for people to fall on my head from crowd surfing during that song. Dan was extremely happy it looked like. He was just in amazement at the energy and size of the crowd. I also saw Nappy on stage in the back and I think I saw Pats dad in the press pit. Posted 1 year ago #

Man, thats awesome that you got to meet Dan and Pat. Who gave you that opportunity, CD101? I was also at the show last night, which was my first. I am a relative Black Keys newcomer, I didn't start listening to them till I heard KIH when it first came out and the rest is history. Anyways, the show was everything I had hoped and expected after reading all the reviews from people who had seen them earlier on the tour. I agree that Dan looked happy and definitely seemed to feed off the energy of the sold out crowd. The one downside for me was the mosh-pitting douche-bags behind me, some of which decided to take their shirts off. I spilled my beer over everyone around me but they seemed cool with it. Well, as cool as you can be after someone is pushed into you and spills beer on you. kind of a big deal offline |
I was there last night! Wooo! Rock 'n' roll! \m/ Sorry... after-show afterglow. Anyway, it was excellent. There was a semi-obnoxious group of "dude-bros" (as my blog cohort, Jennifer, calls them) in front of me, but most everyone else in the audience was cool. Didn't see any fights this time. Did see nappy on stage for a minute during early set-up. Almost shouted out to him, but decided I probably wasn't loud enough to be heard from that distance. They played "Act Nice and Gentle", which sounded really nice. I like the variety that song adds to his vocal performance. "Everlasting Light" had been sounding a little off to me in concert, but last night, it sounded tight. Very good. (I keep hoping they'll break out "The Go Getter", but it keeps not happening.) Pat's T-shirt: CLEVELAND IS THE CITY. (Harkening back to the raiding of Dan's closet on another thread, I would like to own Pat's entire T-shirt collection.) The band's energy wasn't quite as high as it was at the Cleveland show, but that's like comparing a 7.0 earthquake to a 6.5 earthquake: it's still motherfucking bone-rattling. And they were really tight all around last night. You know it's a good show when you stagger and weave out of the venue like a drunkard even though you haven't had a drop of alcohol all day. TBK shows are like workouts for the body and soul, and I left feeling both exhausted and invigorated. Magnolia Thunderpussy picked me as one of their 5 winners. It was supposed to just be a soundcheck but Dan and Pat were 2 hours late so we just lined up and had them sign things then got pictures. Did anyone else at the show notice the girl that passed out on the rail just before Dan started Thickfreakness? Dan was crouched down just about to start the song then first aid and bouncers came running over and pulled her off the ground. Dan waited until they carried her out to start it. Posted 1 year ago #

I didn't notice the girl passing out, but it was so hot that it's not suprising. Poor thing. Posted 1 year ago #

the guy next to me said she was smoking weed. Im guessing that with the 95 degree weather wasn't the best combo. Posted 1 year ago #

I love Dan's look in the last photo, "Alright asshole, take the fucking picture already!!!" Those are 2 tired musicians. They deserve a little break. I thought the show was very good, and I agree, not quite as good as Cleveland, but I guess Cleveland shows are always going to be just a little better than most places. Posted 1 year ago #
