I am always looking at different ways to mix up songs in my extensive library through playlists. I have mentioned in other posts of my thoughts on how the order of songs should have been arranged, how an album should flow,in my opinion. Though the Keys have 6 albums in their arsenal, i have created 12 different playlists of their work (i have 112 playlists overall). It keeps things fresh not hearing the same order all the time. Sure i could hit shuffle, but let's say i'm in the mood for some of their bluesier stuff. Going from "My mind is ramblin'" to "Them eyes" just doesn't work. So here are a few playlists of mine that i recommend. throw 'em on your Mp3 player and see how they feel. Notice the one list has Dan's "Keep it Hid" stuff included. I think it flows real nice.

1.Have Mercy on Me
2.When the lights go out
3.Meet me in the city
4.Keep me
5.No trust
6.Black Door
7.Leavin' Trunk
8.My mind is ramblin'
9.Strange Desire
10.I cry alone
11.Keep your hands off her
12.Elevator
13.Work Me
14.Nobody but You
15.Busted
16.Stack shot Billy
17.Everywhere I go

1.Till I get my way
2.Just couldn't tie me down
3.Modern times
4.Set you free
5.Hard row
6.All hands against his own
7.10 A.M.
8.Thickfreakness
9.Your touch
10.Just got to be
11.Hold me in your arms
12.Girl is on My mind
13.Have love will travel

1.Mean Monsoon
2.The Prowl
3.Oceans and Streams
4.Real desire
5.So he won't break
6.Whispered words
7.Remember when (side B)
8.Street walkin'
9.Same old thing
10.When i left the room
11.Strange times
12.Keep it hid
13.Psychotic Girl
14.Heartbroken,in disrepair
15.I want some more
16.My last mistake

Well you can watch her strut, but keep your mouth shut

I am trying to come up with a 2 playlist sampler for all things Auerbach related. The first playlist focusing on the older stuff: Big Come Up - Magic Potion. The second playlist would include Attack & Release, Brothers, Keep It Hid, and Blakroc. Some of my friends who are less than familiar with the Black Keys will be hearing these...so I don't want to have out anything that would rock the casual fans socks off. I think I enjoy the entire catalog so much that I have the problem of thinking everything belongs in.

For the first list I'm thinking:

1. Busted
2. 10 AM Automatic
3. Set You Free
4. Strange Desire
5. Wicked Messenger
6. No Trust
7. Meet Me In The City
8. I'll Be Your Man
9. Girl Is On My Mind
10. Modern Times
11. Have Mercy On Me
12. Heavy Soul
13. Stack Shot Billy
14. Your Touch
15. Hard Row
16. The Lengths
17. Breaks
18. Thickfreakness
19. Elevator
20. Til I Get My Way
21. Have Love, Will Travel
22. Grown So Ugly
23. Everywhere I Go
24. My Mind Is Ramblin'

Is there anything key that I'm absolutely missing? I don't like leaving out Keep Me, If You See Me, or No Fun but at some point it gets too long and stops being a sampler.

Second list:
1. I Got Mine
2. Next Girl
3. Ain't Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)
4. Tighten Up
5. Hard Times
6. Same Old Thing
7. Keep It Hid
8. Strange Times
9. I Want Some More
10. Sinister Kid
11. Psychotic Girl
12. What You Do To Me
13. Trouble Weights A Ton
14. Lies
15. Heartbroken, In Disrepair
16. Ten Cent Pistol
17. Oceans & Streams
18. Never Give You Up
19. Street Walkin'
20. Dollaz & Sense
21. When The Night Comes
22. So He Won't Break
23. Unknown Brother
24. Things Ain't Like They Used To Be

The tricky thing here was what tracks to leave off from Keep It Hid and from Brothers. With this list pulling from more divergent styles, I thought the songs from A&R kept it together the best. But, I've barely listened to Brothers and I really like Howlin' For You, She's Long Gone, and I'm Not the One. I figured the funkier stuff was pretty well covered and so it made sense ot leave out Howlin and She's Long Gone.

What do you guys think?

As for a "sampler" I usually will play this for people who have not yet heard any Keys stuff. It's more along the lines of what one may (but never will) hear on the radio.

1.Till I get my way
2.Just couldn't tie me down
3.Modern times
4.Set you free
5.Hard row
6.All hands against his own
7.10 A.M.
8.Thickfreakness
9.Your touch
10.Just got to be
11.Hold me in your arms
12.Girl is on My mind
13.Have love will travel

As for a Blakroc, Brothers, Keep it Hid[/i] feel i use:

1.Ain't nothin' like you (hoochie coo)
2.Everlasting Light
3.Tellin' me things
4.Howlin' for you
5.Street Walkin'
6.Next Girl
7.Coochie
8.Ten Cent pistol
9.The Prowl
10.On the Vista
11.The Go Getter
