Since I listened to Dan's tone I wondered which artists inspired him to play fuzzy and dirty. I'm sure Hound Dog Taylor, R.L Burnside, T - Model Ford, Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters are influences, but Dan usually talks about overdriven amps from the 1950's. Which artists from that era had that tone besides Muddy?

Some examples of that tone:

-Hound Dog Taylor

Good stuff, Loht.. I'm not real sure about what artists in particular were using fuzz all the way back in the 50's,. But I do know that this guy right here-and his nasty overdriven amp- had a big influence on Dan. And I gotta think that this song-considering its from the album Dan talks about in the liner notes for Chulahoma- in particular may have "struck a chord" with Dan.

I've never really read anything that contains Dan specifically mentioning Kenny Brown as an influence. But considering that Dan obviously listened to a lot of R.L., and Junior. Then he, by default, also listened to a lot of Kenny Brown. When I was listening to this song the other day I couldn't help but notice the similarities in Kenny, and Dan's slide work on some tunes. Especially in the "licks" come in at 1:05

Here's one I'm pretty sure Dan took a liking to!
