HAHAHA! It's true though. Hilarious, and true. If we're honest with ourselves, we do kinda think everyone else is an idiot. Especially strangers, other drivers, etc.

We have a saying here at work, "always assume the folks on the other side are complete morons" and it really does help. Heh.

I need to start using that state of mind. It sounds like it could make life less complicated

Paste Magazine just posted their two-paragraph, lame-ass excuse for a review. They rated it 65, "Respectable". Apparently the problem is the "high school poetry" lyricism. And I used to trust their opinion...

And then they go on to give the new Band of Horses album an 89?!? Infinite Arms is incredibly weak, in my opinion.

pfffffffffff

The new band of horses is average. Not as good as their previous 2 albums. Not anywhere near as good or original/creative as Brothers, that's for sure.

Don't sweat the bad reviews. Soooo many amazing rock albums got horrible reviews, at first. Zeppelin, Stones, etc.

True. Pitchfork gave it a 7.7 (I think that's what Thickfreakness got too), the only problem being the length. I can agree with that, 15 tracks is very intimidating.

I hate Pitchfork but it's generally a good litmus test.

I don't know about you, but the longer the better. I want more. Always. These guys ARE my favorite. I can see how a casual listener would not be so excited about a lengthy album, but I love it. I wish it was a double album and had 10 more songs. Fuck 'em. Critics know dick.

Oh, me too. There's no such thing as too much. I was talking about for the casual listener, who doesn't really exist on this forum.

Sometimes I feel bad for the critics, so wrapped up in their own definitions of "new" and "cool", they forget to actually enjoy the music. Or maybe it's just because they've got their dicks shoved in their ear-holes so they can't hear anything right.

Yeah I don't know how they do it. My guess is they can't.

They can't possibly review that many albums and go a great job on each and every review.

Plus, they are only one person. Regardless of how much they may THINK they're in tune with what the world likes... the truth is, everyone likes different things. So they can only speak for themselves. And their review is only worth "one person".

Oh man, with all of the excitement for brothers going on this week, I completely forgot about the BoH album. Oh well, I'm sure I will pick it up later, or get it from a buddy who is on a Fleet Foxes, Blitzen Trapper, and BoH kick. I want to focus my music buying on building a better vinyl collection. Mine is pretty good sized right now, but the filler: killer ratio is pretty bad.

Alright I know I'm a little late on the conversation, but first

Scented Jasmine tea blues is indeed the worst blues name ever conceived. How can you possibly be blue while doing anything tea related?

"If only they were more catchy, more freewheeling and eager to play rock and roll or just faster songs"

I thought this was a blues site?

And this person thought All Music would tear the album to bits, and Allmusic ended up giving Brothers 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Could you be more wrong? ahaha!

tea... you can't be blue with tea, we all got in on sunday night after an all day bender (i had done a cheeky acoustic gig in ma local which btw is called blues bar haha) and when we got in we are all wrecked and one of the lads birds asked if we wanted a cup of tea, we did and omg smashed off our nipples n a lil bit high, that cup of tea was the best thing i've ever tasted!
