My girlfriend, who is a graphic designer/artdirector, is gonna love that neat little trick with the heatsensitive ink on the CD. And you guys are right, the drumsounds on Brothers are just fantastic. Allthough I believe to have read somewhere Dan saying the whole record was done digital, the drums have a great analog sound to them.

Color changing CD is neato! Rollercoaster, Brothers was done digitally? Do you have a link that can confirm this? That's a bit of a bummer. "When the power of Love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix Posted 2 years ago #

It makes sense, and now that you say it I can see that. A little bit of a letdown though. I'm not going to question it though. The finished product sounds fantastic. Pat used to be the man at the controls, no? On the first album or two anyways. Interesting how Dan now has his own studio and is very involved with production/recording. Good stuff. I'm thankful. Just about every album I've heard that Dan has worked on, has sounded great. Even if I wasn't really fond of the music, the way it was recorded/produced has always been candy for my ears. And not to leave Patrick out of the spotlight - his Audio Eagle label has been good to me as well. I discovered the Royal Bangs through him. And Drummer's album is excellent. Posted 2 years ago #

We didn't actually use any of Muscle Shoals equipment; even if we did want to they don't have the equipment that was used in 1969. We brought our own gear and Mark Neill from San Diego brought his recording equipment. It was a mix of new and old analog mics and mixers and a digital multi track recorder called RADAR. The entire record was recorded digitally. We didn't use the Fender Rhodes in Shoals, but we did have a Wurlitzer, a Hammond, a Realistic synthesizer, a Parlour piano, a Mellotron and a harpsichord and we used all of those on the record. I knew they used a Mellotron. Posted 2 years ago #
