I worked quite a while on this one so I figured I'd gloat. I don't have proper recording equipment but eh, excuses... you get the gist. If people like it I'll post some more.

That's a good cover man! not quite enough dirt for my taste, but it still sounded great! "F**k the white ones, The Black Keys got so much soul" - Pharoahe Monch Posted 9 months ago #

Thanks alot man! Yeah, it's brass but it's chrome coated. I really want to pick up a nice regular brass one. As for dirt, I did the best I could with what I had, my little solid state practice amp doesn't take well to OD pedals and it's natural dirt is so so. I should reupload this on my fender twin when I get the chance, it's just too late at night to crank the volume. Posted 9 months ago #

Nice, danleary! You killed it on that intro especially... So you're a lefty, eh? I remeber you posting a pic (what is now your avatar, correct?) of that guitar when you got it. Did you have to totally rewire and rearrange all the hardware?.. Or are just fucking with me/us, and somehow flipped your video around?? Oh, and I would definitely like to hear some more of your TBK covers.. You know how to play Run Me Down?.. That song-with all of its muted accents-has probably given me more fits than any other TBK song.. Attn Crackheads: Spring is here. Time to pawn your heater! Posted 9 months ago #

Thanks guys! Yeah, I worked a long time on the intro. That was the jam he always opened the song with during the 2010 tour. I think it's so cool how the songs evolve and change for every tour. People always think he's improvising, and sometimes he is, but alot of the jams during songs are actually very structured and more thought out than you'd think! No I'm not a lefty, haha. I can see how it could be confusing though, usually the guitar faces the other way around in videos, doesn't it? I probably fussed a setting on my webcam by accident. Yeah, muted and accented stuff always confuses me too. Especially because I'm so meticulous and always try to perfect things down to every little detail. The funny thing is, when you finally figure out what he's doing, you realize it was the simplest fucking thing, and you end up smacking yourself in the face. I think part of the reason musicians don't do cover songs exactly the same as the original isn't just because they want to put their own creative spin on it, but because it's just such a pain in the ass to figure it out! Great playing Danleary. In my opinion the 2 biggest "secrets" about Dan Auerbach's playing is, like you said, the simplicity ( something sounding very complicated untill you figured out what it exactly is he;s playing ) and his huge talent for great melodies. P.S, ofcourse that comment about the simplicity in his playing does not actually mean it's simple and that anyone can play that way. I, for instance, surely can't, haha. Posted 9 months ago #

Great job Dan. Would love for you to post more of your covers. I want love to walk right up and bite me, grab a hold of me and fight me, leave me dying on the ground. And I want love to split my mouth wide open and cover up my ears, and never let me hear a sound. ~ Jack White, Love Interruption Posted 9 months ago #

So I just learned to play "Busted" today, but I'm lost when it comes to the little solo thing, anybody have the tabs/any licks of their own that I could try? Posted 6 months ago #

Very nice man. Just curious, what amp and pedals are you using here? It sounds pretty nice for a solid state practice amp...I usually use a Squier Classic Vibe Tele or Harmony H75 with a hoof fuzz into a Silvertone tube amp for Black Keys/garage rock kind of tones but your tone here is great as well. Definitely one of the better black keys covers I've seen. Posted 6 months ago #
