Will be heading out to the NYE show, and while discussing shows with friends, we were all stumped as to whether or not you can bring cameras in to shows? Obviously people grab videos and pics from cell phones but I don't recall ever being stopped for having a camera???

I took my camera to the Cleveland show and didn't have any problems. It was only if the security dudes thought people were taking videos that they cracked down. And I've never had a problem having my camera out at club shows, like at Beachland or the Grog Shop. At Toronto they told us all ahead of time that there were to be no flashes. I was so far away in vancouver it didnt matter, too far for pics. Keep them as well consealed as you can, my advice Posted 1 year ago #

I called the Fox Theater in Oakland a few months ago when The Black Keys were there and the camera policy mentioned there is a 3 song limit with anyone with "Professional Cameras" - when I asked what this means they said a camera with a changeable zoom lens. The assumption is that people with camera's with zooms are typically expensive (over $1000) and are with the press. So press people are only allowed three songs to take pictures. This I've experienced at a few bay area venues. Posted 1 year ago #

I agree with April, you shouldn't have a problem bringing it in. It's the Livenation Camera Nazi's i'd keep an eye on. They seem to gravitate towards people doing video more than those taking just pics. Key thing to remember about pics is use a fast shutter setting and no flash. I have hundreds of streaky pics due to a slow shutter speed. Posted 1 year ago #

I saw George Thorogood and JJ Grey at a classy venue here in Canada. They had "NO CAMERA" signs up everywhere. I got my Nikon D60 with Zoom Lens past everyone and was 3rd row. After JJ Grey security came and said that if his boss saw hed take my camera away. I continued to discreetly take pictures. Then this fat guy that was lurking around back stage caught sight of me and pulled me out of the concert. He got me to follow him and he proceeded to yell at some door guy. Then i had to take my camera out to my truck. But at least I got a couple of okay pics and didnt get booted. Posted 1 year ago #

I always end up forgetting my camera and end up taking a few with my cell. So they never turn out right. I just want something to look back at when I'm old and remember that I was there. Even if it's just a blur of the band or a speaker on stage. I save all my tickets too. I'm dorky like that. I really wish that they would video record shows like elementary schools do for recitals. That way I wouldn't have to worry about taking my own pics and I could just trust the venue to send me a DVD of the show a few weeks later. Then I could focus on the music and not need to worry about recording it myself or hunting it down on youtube the next week. Make sure your sneaker laces, they get tied. @unluckylaika Posted 1 year ago #
