After making some humorous twitter posts referring to similarities between Lady Gaga and Madonna, Carney has found himself in a bit of strife with Gaga fans hahaha. Now this is surreal.

I really wish he hadn't done this, as true as it might be, it makes him look like the stereotypical elitist hipster douche. Well, at least this better than some stupid PR dude controlling his every move like some other (cough cough) musicians... Danleary - 1 day ago » Posted 10 months ago #

Okay, I only have one welding mask so Act Nice and Gentle… Not that anyone needs more proof but...
Someone wise (up there in the thread someplace) said, "There's Pat stating the obvious again…” that pretty much sums it up for me. I have heard so many connections made between the two artists (I have made many myself) and I have seen displays that are as close to plagiaristic as possible without litigation… I am in awe. I simply cannot fathom how or why Gaga's fan's would be shocked or offended by these comparisons. Especially when Gaga herself gives enormous credit and respect to Madonna and claims Madonna as one of her major influences. I think I said this before (if I did pardon the redundancy), but Gaga's fans are called "Little Monsters"; the attack on Pat is a good indication that the name is no accident. Or maybe the whole thing can be chalked up to the fact that people have a limitless need to have something to get bent about. Who would've thought Lady Gaga would be brought up in a conversation on this forum!?! The last year really has changed the band (and fans). "i wonder if they’ll release that last verse. i bet he hit the floor on the downbeat, too. RIP" Posted 10 months ago #

I think this is the third time Lady Gaga has come up on this forum and while I did pause before posting my comments for fear of further offending any sensibilities here, reality smacked me in the face: this site is a virtual gathering place for people to connect, discuss, and share information about the one thing we all have in common: appreciation for The Black Keys. I thought to myself: I do not believe this forum was intended to become a place of exclusivity and antagonism and what seems to be the entrenchment between “old” forum members and “new” forum members is probably nothing more than shadows from my toilet training days duking it out in my head. I choose instead to believe in the unseen tender hearts beating beneath the bristly exteriors and just trust that the world really has not become so cold and disconnected that even electronic social groups created for the purposes of kinship are nothing more than arenas for debasement. I choose instead to believe that everyone’s opinion is welcome and valid and that it is possible for people to discuss a topic with levity or gravity, as the situation dictates; that unanimity and conformity are not requirements for participation, in fact, they make for quite boring discussion; and that people can have vast differences while enjoying what few commonalities are recognized. Ever the optimist, I decided to go for it and share my half-cent’s worth with the world re: Madonna/Gaga. Personally, I don't care for either artist but I did find these happenings intriguing and they are relevant; the story is about (at least in part) an observation Pat made and the reaction of some particularly fervent fans. Human behavior is fascinating and celebrity gossip and/or discussion is certainly popular otherwise this forum wouldn't exist. Then again. . . Posted 10 months ago #
