Does this freak anybody else out a little?

"The Black Keys return to NYC for a July 27th show at Summer Stage. Check out the tour section for presale info to save on convenience fees. Presale tickets are available here.
Look for changes in the live show as well as a new album in the coming months!"

This could mean
-they are adding live shows and by "changes" to live show they meant changes to that section on the website, and whoever updated can't write very well
-they are adding a bassist or band ensemble. Which would suck a lot.

Let's read into this entirely too much. I feel that an expanded instrumentation defeats the entire purpose of the Keys... those two thrashing it out is what it's about. Save the extra instrument shit for the solo stuff, please.

I saw GWAR once a long time ago, and at the end of the show, the band exited the stage one by one by being "eaten" by a giant beast/monster/dragon thing. I shit you not. It was pretty badass. I hope that's what this means...

This system requires equal parts broke-ass shit to equal parts hot-ass shit.

Again I think it just has to do with them evolving. The first couple albums that all it was on the album and the tour ..the two of them just guitar and drums. Now they have been getting into adding lots of keyboards and adding bass tracks to their stuff. I dont see them having a big band but I could see them maybe adding a person or two. When they performed as blakroc on tv they had a bassist and keyboard player(Both guys were from a collective of legit funk/soul musicians from Brooklyn that record all analog like TBK). The two guys were from some of my favorite bands , probably why I loved it. But I def could see them adding a few guys to cover bass and keyboards. Its just how they are growing, I dont think they would necessarily add two guys permanent , just for touring purposes. the Keys are gonna do what they wanna do , no matter. IT wont be the end of the world if they do add them. I love the experimentation and I welcome it

The only constant is change. Don't fear it. Embrace it.

It's surprising how many bands bring in extra musicians for touring purposes.

Which made the assault of the Black Keys all the more amazing, that they were louder and fiercer than most ensembles I have seen. How often would bass be used? Dan's tone seems to be dictated by the fact that there is no bass. It's so goddamn heavy. Would he switch it up to let the bass cover the bottom end? Because I don't think they need bass or anything. They are perfect the way they are.

i have to agree with spalmer... develop experiment on the albums, but what i love about the live show is them being a two piece n jst reading each other n nailin the shit out of it. i would actually be a little disappointed if they added session muscians to their live show i know its mean but i want dan n pat not dan n pats solo projects gettin in on the live act. end of discussion for me

It would not surprise me if they add a bassplayer for certain songs in the liveshows. Not that I think they need one ofcourse.

I think the changes are probably just referring to a new setlist, which is to be expected with a new album. I don't know why the press release would make such a big deal out of setlist changes though.

I actually hope it means something more. I wouldn't mind added instrumentation. Why settle for the same Keys show over and over, change is good! I for one would be down for a much longer set!

Maybe they'll have fly girls for Everlasting Light?

I saw a couple shows where Dan was playing with these "5 other guys" on stage, and they were incredible...

Well, you know they both play other instruments. I saw Drummer at Beachland Ballroom and Pat held his own on bass.He also tinkers with the keyboards, as does Dan. Maybe Dan will bang on the drums for a couple as Pat plays keyboard.

Dan whales on that weird-ass keyboard thingy he toured with for A&R.

Wish I could have caught Drummer. They played with Royal Bangs at Schubas and I don't know why I wussed out on going to that show for one reason or another... stupid of me.

At first the idea bugged me, but now it's just like... if the music is awesome, who cares how many band members there are? It's trivial.

Mirbygnits is on to something.

they're totally going to have a bassist/keyboardist. I'm calling it now. all the new songs have fairly prominent bass that I don't think they can work around.
