That's what I thought as well spalmer. Just listen to Tighten Up. Seems impossible to play that without a bass.

The Black Keys with a bassplayer, a second guitar, etc wouldn't be the Black Keys! The 3 new songs we heard so far are damn great, I really really like "Next Girl" and I really like the production. They can easily change all the songs just for a two-piece and they will do. Posted 2 years ago #

It will be Pat/Dan alone for the first half of the set, then they'll bring out some friends to finish the 2nd half. And I think that's a good call. That way the fans get both. We get to hear TBK do what they been doing for years - tearin' shit up. And then we get to see/hear them jam with some friends (and more instruments). Jessica Lea Mayfield is opening for TBK in Cleveland. Hopefully she will come out and sing somebacking vocals, though i wonder if she can get her "soul thang" goin with Nicole Wray, if she indeed is going to lay down the "sister soul thang" on TBK's tour. Posted 2 years ago #

Dusty! Great call! Wouldn't that be amazing?! I picture a live show with Jessica and Nicole doing the whole female backup singers thing, Hacienda doing what they do best (keeping those tatsy grooves nice and tight), Patrick showing his drum kit who's boss, Dan crooning and cranking his amp up to "eleven", and one or more horn players for "Never Give You Up"!! Like a huge party on stage full of dope-ass musicians. Posted 2 years ago #

If they do bring some people along with them on this tour I would prefer they be on stage the entire time. I could see Dan and Pat being re-excited about playing their old songs when they have some new blood up there. Posted 2 years ago #

I love it when bands bring out "friend" musicians and it ends up looking like a giant party jam session. The vibe those moments produce, it almost becomes more than a feeling or sense...something that is actually tangible I'm keeping m fingers crossed to see hacienda up there (well maybe Just Rene, Abraham, and Dante). i really don't think there will be anyone else up there. When I heard A&R, I wondered how they were gonna capture that sound live, and I thought they might need more people, a bassist at least. But they didn't, and I don't think they will now. They've always said, the Keys are just the two of them. I have faith that Dan and Pat will be able to take the sound from Brothers, and recreate the essence live. How, I have absolutely no idea. But adding people to the band just seems like a line they will never cross. myspace.com/themuskiesband Posted 2 years ago #

Guys, it will be just Dan/Pat for the first half, then they will be bringing some friends on stage to play along for the 2nd half. That is the way it will be. Trust me. Posted 2 years ago #

Max, how would you respond to them saying there will be changes? Also I think there are more prominent bass and keyboard lines on Brothers. And I dont necessarily think they would bring a few "friends" on tour only to play half the show. I think they could add some energy to old tunes, even if people wouldnt like to hear that Posted 2 years ago #
