"We just want to play music," Auerbach states plainly. Simply. "That's all. We just want to do it. And that's what we do. We make records, we play shows. And we love it. It's a great job to have. And we knew that we'd have to work hard at it and that's what we do. We work hard - and the bonus is it doesn't really feel like work at all, to be out there playing music. It really is a dream to do this. It can be a drag travelling all over the place, it can be tiring but when you're out there on stage, well that's the part that counts. That's when we really try to make it count."

The click, do it.

I really liked the style and content of this article. It didn't offer much "news" but it didn't rehash the same 2-3 introductory questions that they seem to get. I noticed that Dan said wee instead of little a few times.

It's great that he can answer with this and without a doubt it's true; they really haven't put out a bad cover song yet:

Does it ever not work out? Ever try a song and it's not how you imagined it, not as good out loud as what you thought your interpretation might be?

"No, that's never happened" - and there's a small chuckle. "I can honestly say I don't recall that happening. We play a lot and we pick songs we like - so we make sure we do a good job of them."

Make sure your sneaker laces, they get tied.

I've heard him say in an interview (regarding cover songs) that once they get together & start trying to cover a song, they can tell right away if it's going to work out or not. So I think there have definitely been times when they tried to cover a song and decided that it wasn't working as well as they'd hoped. Which is probably why he chuckled when he gave his answer. I think he was being a little sarcastic/funny. Then following that joke with an honest statement that when they do cover a song (and release it to the public) they work very hard on it.

At least that's how it seemed to me when I read it.

I don't think Dan ever said wee. I highly doubt anybody from the midwest would ever talk like that. Unless his parents said it a lot or something.

nice interview, looks like dan didn't have an inkling that they were going to cancel. maybe it is something to do with Pat, or maybe a better offer in the states has emerged? after all Oz only has a population of 24 million.

Hey don't shoot the messenger. I didn't think he would say wee either. That's why I pointed it out.

"They're a great band - well worth checking out. And it's funny, we've kept up with them a little bit but we haven't seen them play in a while and of course back in the day we opened for them. So it's going to be interesting, all these years later, them opening for us. It was years ago back in some wee bar in a college town. Meg White was in the audience; it was one of those mythical gigs - a lot of people that were clearly never there claim now to have been there."

You know, I'm pretty sure Dan's left Akron at least once or twice. Maybe he picked up the wee when he went to Cleveland. Yeah, I bet they say wee alot in Cleveland.
