I hope he will be busy with some of his 25 projects, The Black Keys should produce the next record by themselves.

I love Green Onions! Yeah I totally agree, it would be terrific to see a new collaboration between The Black Keys and other musicians.

I agree. The guys came make an amazing record without help from anyone else. I would like to see them collaborate with Jack White though. I think that would be an interesting combination.

I sense a bit of contempt when Dan gets asked about working with Jack White. I don't think it has anything to do with Jack White though. I think it's more of an issue with all of the comparisons and stupid articles that were written back when the White Stripes and Black Keys were both kicking a lot of ass. People would always say dumb shit like "oh your bands are both duos and you both have a "the" and a color in your band name... what's THAT all about?" - and they'd expect some really amazing answer but it was really just a dumb coincidence, so that was usually the response, which lead to disappointed "journalists" everywhere.

So I don't know if I see any Jack White colabs in the future but I lterally know jack shit. Just making conversation. They do both live in Nashville so anything could happen.

I also see them both as cooks or captains or chiefs or leaders or whatever. Not always easy to work together when two guys have such distinct styles and whatnot. Trying to make a band out of two frontmen from two different bands... seems difficult.

And this is just a guess or a "feeling", and it isn't based on any facts or reality, but I think the Black Keys might go the way of the White Stripes in a year or two. Basically stop making music and focus on recording/producing other bands and maybe running a record label or something. Just a guess. And I hope it doesn't come true. But how long can two guys keep going at it? Wouldn't they run out of shit that they want to do? Like, what happens when you have no more ideas for your art?

Yea lookin back Brothers felt a lot more real, it has a groove that all their albums have. The groove is gone with El Camino... I remember nappy saying he wouldn't be arsed if he never heard magic potion again well EL Camino if you took away the layers it's probably even more basic musically. Bring back the grooves for the next album please boys, dirty sounds, less keyboards n glock, more dirt in the guit and the vox. thank you please!

Honestly, I'd be happy with Dan Auerbach (and the Fast 5). Except this time make Patrick Carney the extra guy instead of Patrick from MMJ. I know that's a slap in the face to Pat Carney to go from being a Black Key to being one of Dan's Fast Five but I'm just saying musically - that was the best shit ever. Best tour/performance, best album, etc. Keep It Hid was a special "era"/album. that was the high water mark, in my opinion. That was Dan at his creative "best". Just too bad that Pat Carney was excluded or whatever (however it went down, I know it's a sore subject).

Yeah I get what what you mean with the comparisons screwing up the chances. And I can definitely see the two arguing for power over the music. It'd be a dream come true to me though. Two of my favorite bands coming togethor. And The black Keys are sort of going the route of the White Stripes. Get Behind me Satan and Icky thump were the last two white stripes albums and they started experimenting a lot on them, just like TBK did with brothers and el camino. Maybe el camino is the black keys icky thump? I just hope they don't go dark for three or four years, start rumors about a new album, then break up out of no where. Haha

Yeah, I guess what I'm saying is - let's take Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones for example. Would you take Robert Plant and Mick Jagger and try to make a band? It just seems that even though the two bands are fantastic on their own - it seems that trying to combine them would produce disappointing results. I like what the White Stripes do/did, and I like what the Black Keys do, but I don't know if I'd like to find out what happens when you combine the two... lol It's like, I dig hip hop, and I dig the Black Keys, but when you mix the two (Blakroc cough cough) - less than favorable results.

i can't think of one supergroup that totally amounted to all their potential anyway.

my first thought would be The Highwaymen came closest.

but if we're talking about Temple of the Dog here, unless its "say hello to heaven", mehhhhhhh

Side note: Nice avatar stackshot. I have a huge girl crush on JLM.

And you both have great points. I have been a huge fan of both TBK and TWS and I always wonder what would happen if they bumped into each other in Nashville and made some music together. It would have the potential to be something wonderful, but then I think about Balackroc and I cringe. It doesn't always work. If it went bad, if things didn't turn out how I imagined them, well... It could be like Lou Reed all over again. Doing an album with Metallica. Horrendous. I haven't been able to listen to VU for a month now.

Make sure your sneaker laces, they get tied.
