I'm really interested in Dan's live sound.

I read from an article that Dan uses a Silverface Fender Quad Reverb and a Marshall JTM-45 with the big 8x10 cabinet. In the article, Dan goes on by saying he uses the Fender for the reverb and has delay on the Marshall.

Does he A/B between the two? Fender for clean reverb - slightly overdriven tones (the quad reverb has a fuckton of clean headroom. Can't really say if it ever breaks up) and Marshall for the Fuzz tones?

I'm haven't quite figured it out yet.

Insight or ideas, fellas?

I took photos of the interview with my phone because I was too much of a cheapskate to buy the magazine. I think it was guitarworld and it was a little after Brothers was released.

Damn, I wasn't able to find the article with the interview but I'm almost certain it was the April 2011 GuitarWorld issue.

Yeah, that article is buried here in the forum somewhere. It's the Guitar World with Jeff Beck on the cover, I actually have the magazine on me.

"Currently I'm using a Fender Quad reverb and a Marshal JTM 45 with an 8x10 cab. The fender has my reverb and the Marshal has my slapback. And that's it."

That's all he really said about it.

Yes! That was the issue.

It sucks that he didn't really go more into detail.

If you look at some live shots in the last tour you'll see he also mics each with large diaphragm condensers - one left, the other right. Very odd live setup since those mics invariably pick up room noise and other bleed. I have to try that sometime

Here's where we discussed Guitar World article

Here's where we discussed JTM 45 elsewhere

And yet another discussion that addresses your exact question about A/B between the amps
