So Dan nearly every album introduces a new bunch of guitars,with brothers he began using his Supro and his National. His main guitars always seem to be his Harmony H78 and his Harmony Stratatone H47 but from time to time he uses diffrent guitars for example he sometimes uses a telecaster.But I personally would like to see him use a 1967 Gibson Melody Maker but what would you like to see him play?

I half expect to see him rocking silk shirts, skinny ties, and a plain ol' Fender Stratocaster on this tour...

Jokes aside, I guess I'd like to hear what he could do with a vintage/original one of these...

Yeah it's an odd one. But I'd like to see what kind of tones he'd come up with. Just for kicks.

@turneverythingto11 - I play a '04 Gibson SG faded special with P90's. I suck, but it's a great guitar.

@alange5 - if you're talking about his Gibson Gold Top LP with P90's ... I want that fucker so bad. I would slap my momma for a piece of that action!
Heh, as much as I try to deny it, I guess at heart I'm still just a Dan Auerbach fanboy, cuz I'd cream my jeans to own just some shitty Yamaha acoustic that used to be Dan's...

I still feel that Dan would be "at home" with a Gretsch or a late 50's Franz pickup loaded Guild, like an an M-75 Aristocrat!

I think Dan could probably play a boat anchor with dead strings on it and still sound great

dan has a way of coaxing the fattest tone out of any guitar. when he was playing one of his teisco's on the A&R tour (here) it sounded incredible... those pickups are noisy, under-wound single coils. crazy.

@Mirby - I've had to try very, very hard to keep myself from mimicing everything dan does. for a brief period of time my setup was 3-pickup white SG > white coily cable > green big muff > analogman delay > marshall super lead. Sound familiar? I had to step back and say "who am i kidding"

I bet that was fun to experience.

I don't think I've ever copied a favorite player of mine's rig to a tee. I've "cut and paste" some players rig and added some of my own wants to the mix....so far...I feel I am still in the trial and error period...which would be easier and less expensive if I knew how to build pedals and or amps

^ it was fun, but it didn't last long. i had the marshall plugged into a 4x12 cabinet in my basement. i plugged in, cranked it, and hit one chord and a bookshelf fell over (no joke). the next day, i put the amp on ebay

@alange5 - tell me about it! when I heard TBCU and found out that it was a Maestro MFZ-1 fuzz pedal, I immediately bought a vintage one off the web and later sold it off but built a clone (as you well know ). I also bought a telecaster because of Dan's. Also bought a 1965 Ampeg Gemini because of Dan. The green russian muff clone I built and own is because of him, same with the Zvex Octane 3 clone and the fulltone soul bender clone. And the 72 silverface Fender Musicmaster amp I now use is because of Dan (and Dante from Hacienda). I've had to do the same thing that you did - back up and say wtf am I doing here? Now I do more of a cut n paste like Incinerator said. A bunch of different gear, and some is inspired by bands/players I like and some is just stuff that I like because of how it sounds.
