Dan's was modified to have 2 pick ups, but the unmodified version only has one. Dan's still only has 1 volume and tone knob though. Can someone explain?

I'm also wondering what that white switch does? I thought it was a selector switch until I realized the standard stratotones only have one pick up, so it can't be?

Might be to coil tap one humbucker? It they're humbuckers I haven't had a good look. Or it could switch it all to run through a different value capacitor to get more bass or whatever. Maybe.

Theyre P-90s. Also the Jupiter's ive found have been two-pickups. I still really wanna get the Harmony H49 Jupiter re-issue that goes for about a grand.

I have a 1960 H47 Stratotone (same as Dan's, but mines not modded). Anyway, Dan's most likely just uses the same volume and tone control for both pickups. As for the selector switch, it changes between a bass setting, treble setting, and another. In the bass and treble settings, the tone knob is disabled, while in the last setting, the tone knob can be adjusted. The difference between the tones isn't that drastic.

Thanks, that clears up some things. Do you know how the switch works? I'm also wondering if Dan is able to switch between neck and bridge pick ups? I don't see a selector switch on his guitar

I know Dan has a tendency to wire his guitars like Teles. That is what he did with his SG. I think the middle pick up wasn't even wired. Also, he has never been much for changing between the neck and bridge. His tele sometimes had the selector switch taped in the neck position. Those are all just generalization, though.

If anything I said is true, maybe he just likes how both pups sound together and doesn't ever wish to select between them.

I assume he just has the original switch wired to switch between the pickups, but I'm not sure..

There was no original switch, the unmodified guitar only has 1 pick up. Unless you mean that he wired the switch that changes tone settings as a selector switch instead?

Yeah. That's my best guess anyway, and would seem to make sense, considering there is no other switch on the guitar.
