You are out of tune and I think it ruined what would have otherwise been amazing. You seem to have the song down really well. A few timing issues but nothing huge. And that guitar looks beautiful. Posted 1 month ago #

That was a lot better, good job. Still sounds a bit out of tune but not as bad as it was. Do you have an electronic tuner? +1 for picking one of the more challenging songs, most people seem to do the easy stuff. Kinda funny... out of all their albums, I've found the stuff from TBCU to be the hardest to play. I actually think you are the first person to upload a fingerstyle song, well besides that epic pro guitarshop one. Posted 1 month ago #

Agreed, I thought it was good. And I also agree, I find a lot of TBCU stuff to be pretty tough. Question for all the finger picking style of players. when picking indvidual notes, do you always upstroke with your fingers? do you ever downstroke using your fingernail? I've been messing with different techniques and it never sounds quite right if I down stroke with my nail. may just be me. Posted 1 month ago #

I do mostly upstrokes. Downstroke on chords sometimes, depending on what sound I want. I really wish there were more in depth tutorials on finger style, and pick hand technique in general. You can find a billion things on fret hand technique, but when it comes to picking hand it always seems so much more obscure. It's something I've had to figure out for myself, (which pisses me off, because fret hand stuff is pretty straightforward and easy to figure out on your own. It's the picking hand that's more vague. Everyone seems to do it a bit differently) Posted 1 month ago #

Yeah i got a electric tuner like, its probs just the playing, only just started using open D tbh. TBCU is my favorite album along with Chulahoma. I had a go at countdown too, love this song so much,
The endings a bit weird lol Posted 1 month ago #

very nice efforts here indeed, i think timing seems a little off but if you played it without TBK in the background it would sound better, seems like your not 100% in time with that like your listening and then playing just delayed after it maybe? i dunno either way your doing a good job of playing them! Late at night write something cool in here that people will appreciate. Posted 1 month ago #

I think fingerstyle is especially difficult if one has started out learning guitar by using a guitarpick instead of fingers only. Switching to fingers after being able to play with a pick is kinda tough but it really pays of once you get the hang of it. Posted 1 month ago #

Dan uses his middle finger too. That's the confusing bit, knowing when to use which finger when switching strings during your runs. Posted 1 month ago #

i generally go by using all first 3 fingers as the bottom 3 strings and then switch first finger between D and G strings. that works for me cause its how i play lapslide so i find it works like that. Although percussive blues stuff i tend to play sloppy just with my index finger, I like the lazy rough sound of stuffing up! Posted 1 month ago #

I usually do thumb on the bass note of whatever I'm playing over, and other fingers chronologically follow suit. what confuses me is a run like this, where the string that your thumb is on changes --5--2-----2--------------------------------------------------------------- theres many different ways you can do it. I'm sure there's a "proper" way, but for now I know I'm using bad technique Posted 1 month ago #

puh technique just play! na i'm sure theres heaps of ways of doing things! i find i tend to do what i like, know, and feels comfortable to me. But i intend to be the singer/songwriter type so i don't need the most brilliant guitar playing possible just the rhythm is all i need! Plus maybe some sweet skills! haha Posted 1 month ago #
