We saw them last Thursday in St. Louis and it was a great show. One thing that helped get us pumped was the fine selection of soul and oldies playing before the band came on. I called the venue and they said that the Black Keys had provided the music, anybody know how to find the playlist?

I always wonder that. First , do you think bands always have a say in what is played before the concert starts? I went to the show in Columbus, OH for the Keep it Hid tour and they had some great soul tunes playing before they started. Dante from Hacienda even played along with a few while setting up his guitar haha. If you find anything let me know

Yes definitely the band controls what is played before and after a concert. Especially when they use their own sound man/technician. This helps create the atmosphere and the overall vibe of the show/night. Not sure how you'd get the playlist, maybe politely ask the sound man or ask the question on TBK website / forum. Hell I'm in a local band and I'll specify what we want to the audience to hear before the show, during breaks and after the show. If they don't have access to the type of music I prefer, I'll supply a CD. Otherwise the club will be playing music which is not complementary to the band's music. Although in small clubs sometimes the club will override the music I request because of the clientele, age restrictions or the bar/club's image. But for larger bands it's not an issue.
