Hey, I can't stop listening to the guitar solo in Desperate Man. Is it just reversed or is Dan playing through a certain kind of pedal(s)? I would love to be able to get that sound because it just takes me away.

It's reversed. Unfortunately there's no pedal that will get you that sound in a live situation (think about it, you'd have to be able to time travel), but I've seen delay pedals that have reverse playback settings. It's not the same but probably as close as you'll get. Ron Paul 2012 Posted 1 year ago #

You can get a pretty similar effect with THE EXPERIENCE in the swell mode, a pedal by Prescription Electronics. Check this: http://www.fuzzbox.com/experience Very cool pedal. Posted 1 year ago #

Wow that is cool. Sounds to me like it briefly cuts the volume when you strike a note and rolls it back up. Very cool idea. If you scroll down though, there are some youtube demos. Is it me, or does the swell effect sound a lot less impressive in those demos? Posted 1 year ago #

The swell changes quite a bit depending on the SWELL knob and the amount of fuzz it is set to. Also, that is one terrible "solo" on that video. I'm sorry guys but Dan MUST have been dumbing it down on purpose or something. Timing and notes, especially timing is butchered. Posted 1 year ago #

His timing was perfect. It was a really small and simple solo though, even by Dan's standards. I dunno if I'd even call it a solo, more like a breakdown Posted 1 year ago #

I suppose we will just have to disagree on this one. It sure sounds like he rushes through some of those "straight down the scale" licks. Pat has to adjust. I don't mind simple, but this could've been better. All I'm saying is rushing though the "hard stuff" is what much worse musicians do. If you are going to do simple, make sure it is right in the pocket. Posted 1 year ago #

I felt the same way on one of the solos in "Sinister Kid." Most rock-blues-jazz players stay on the back of the beat. It is probably intentional but it doesn't do much for me. Posted 1 year ago #

Have you seen the version of Sinister Kid at Glastonbury? It's a lot better than the terminal 5 one. Posted 1 year ago #
