Just got home from work to find El Camino in my mailbox. Pretty sweet that Nonesuch/WB got it to me the night before it comes out. Right on.

It's a real nice little digipak. Lots of vans in there. But guess what - no lyrics. That chaps my ass a little but what can ya do? I guess we'll have fun arguing over what is and is not being said?

BUT, I have a hunch that the vinyl edition may have the lyrics. Can anyone confirm or deny? I'm not buying this album on vinyl.

I was very impressed with the case to the cd. folding it out and seeing all those vans was a surprise. Probably one of my favoeite cd cases for a Black Keys album. But I was also disappointed to see no lyrics. I usually like to read them along with the song.

Ya I was a little disappointed with the lack of lyrics. However I thought I was just getting a download card with the vinyl so I was pleasantly surprised with the included CD. SO many vans, I got it shipped to my work cause I don't trust shit getting delivered to my apt and a coworker goes, "so are you, like, in the market for a van??" I told her to keep an eye out for a nice wood paneled van for me. I mean, if it wasn't for date rape I'd never get laid.

My new trick is to rohypnol myself and when ya start to feel it drop your pants and if you wake up sore in the mornin it was a good night.

Right?

Also. The black keys are a good band. (just to seem semi relevant. )

And vinyl is nice.

Do we think the fact that the lyrics were omitted means anything? Maybe it means the lyrics aren't important? lol

Maybe the printing company didn't get paid for their work in advance

ROTFLMAO!

I gotta get to know you better.

And, to be relevant - I am one of those people who likes to have the lyrics in hand when I listen to an album. I was sorely disappointed to find none... anywhere. We were desperate enough here to try closed captioning during the late night appearances earlier in the week just to try and sort that line in Gold On The Ceiling. We narrowed it down to two possible choices:

"There's no guard in (guardin') my eye" ... already been chewed here on the forum in other threads.

"Aint no God in my eye..." - as in, I do not worship money.

Say, if anyone ever locates a lyric log, do let me know.

Loved your post Fugly.

Oh and our closed captioning feature here had it as, "That aint blood in my eye." Who the hell knows though? In my expeirence captioning is rarely reliable.

Forgot to mention, I love the PLAY IT LOUD sticker that comes on the album packaging.

I'll give it another thirty-thousand listens with high quality headphones and eventually figure it out, I hope. Or perhaps TBK will release a special edition with lyrics included? Or just allow us to purchase a lyrics booklet? Please. With sugar. It's driving us anal retentives insane!

I think the lyric is "blood in my eye".

Maybe McRib can verify the lyrics?
