This is a pretty obvious concept that applies to just about every artist, but David Byrne really nails it:

The cool underground days are gone. Now they have to work with the current situation. The lid's been blown off, and there's no going back. Gotta make the best of what you have, you know?
On that note, I feel like this album may have been written with the mindset that Brothers blew up BIG TIME, so now they know they'll be playing larger venues... at least with this Lonely Boy track, it seems to maybe have been written knowing that they're going to play for larger audiences (not fat people, MORE people. well okay some fat people too).
Picture Lonely Boy being played live to a crowd of 200 people. That would be alright. But then picture it being played to five or ten thousand screaming fans and Dan working the crowd... it just seems to be a better fit. Seems like the song was written/designed to be a real crowd pleaser. Nothing wrong with that. They want to have fun out there on the road, right on.

So yeah, Mr Byrne said it much better but I guess that's what I was getting at.

How did I know I'd get someone complaining about me quoting myself.

Ok, I'll bite...

I quoted myself because I'm pretty certain I inspired this thread. But the original post doesn't appear in this thread. So if I hadn't quoted myself, people reading this thread might have no idea wtf I was talking about, unless they had read the other thread I guess...

And anyways, why is it bad to quote myself? Is it frowned upon in your computer-club?

Sensitive? Yeah, because I'M the one who couldn't let something like quoting oneself slip by without commenting...

You cover your face to hide the ugly? I don't get it.

To be fair, I don't think I'm ugly. And I certainly don't think you are either. Perhaps I'm a little afraid of putting my face out there on the internet. I'm no celebrity but I take pride in my privacy regardless, to an extent.

Mirbs, you're an incredibly intelligent person. I get it. I tried my psychological approach on you before; I don't know if it had the desired effect but I genuinely want the best for you...even if you beg to differ.

It's cool, my man. It's cool.

I don't really know what's going on, but I do know that my Airport Express arrived today. And I just hooked it up, and THAT, plus the Apple Remote app... fucking RULER. So yeah, sorry for losing my cool and whatnot. Bury your face in your hands all you want good buddy. Truce. XOXO

@buster need to get you and others writing (reading) more blog posts

http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/2010/06/has-architecture-changed-the-black-keys-sound/

could happily posit the thesis that Lonely Boy and other tracks will become the new I Got Mine
