Hey everyone,
So I am getting myself an electric guitar here pretty soon and I am going for a Dan-styled guitar. So far in my research I have come narrowed my pickings to two guitars.

1) Epiphone Wildkat - http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-WildKat-Ltd-Electric-Guitar?sku=518248&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=26044248

2) The Epiphone Riviera- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-Riviera-Custom-P93-Electric-Guitar-105800502-i1427053.gc?source=4WFRWXX&CAWELAID=468907430

I am pretty split but leaning towards the wildkat, they are both $500, which is about how much I can spend without breaking the bank.
So what do you guys think? And if there is another guitar I should be looking at in that range feel free to let me know, I am open to anything

Thanks

personally, i think the wildkat is better. you could probably find a wildkat in good condition on craigslist for less, if you're trying to save a little dough.

the riviera is sold out, but they are shipping to UK now woop! coz an epiphone for under 350/400 sterling pounds is a pretty good price!

Yeah I was leaning towards the wildkat anyway, only problem is no stores have them so i can't actually play it before the buy. I would just have to order it and hope for the best.

Hokes: I'm from California and guitar center has it in stock actually and said they could order it if i wanted. Are you saying you would get the Rivi?

I have a Riviera, although I'm not sure whether it's the same as yours since the page doesn't show. I got the red one with the white pickguard, and mini humbuckers.

It's a good guitar. I'd probably change the pots since the stock ones are cheap shit (on semi hollow guitars that's pretty finicky to do though). Keep in mind that the Wildkat has a Bigsby, which is always good. Plus Dan used the Bigsby quite a lot at times, especially around Magic Potion.

Wham bam, thank you m'am.

SavageAnimal I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you didn't even look at the guitars he posted links for.

Because the Riviera also has a Bigsby.

And for what it's worth, I'd get the Riv over the Wildkat.

Never played either, but on looks alone, I'm loving that Wildcat.
The pickup configuration on the Riviera might give you more tonal options, though?

I tried to, but as I said, the Riviera link wouldn't show. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you didn't read my post closely.
