anyone go? probably the biggest gig tbk have ever played - 65,000+(?) peeps

what's maybe more interesting is dan speaking more on stage. can't ever remember him being "chatty".

Earlier in the evening, The Black Keys had warmed up for Kings Of Leon, playing for almost an hour as the sun began to set over the park.

With a set relying heavily on new album 'Brothers', Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney were joined by a full band for the majority of their set, with each stagebound member wearing a suit. Auerbach, who also wore sunglasses throughout was in particularly chatty mood, commenting on the audiences receptiveness throughout. Towards the end of the band's set he also paid tribute to Kings Of Leon, saying:

"Thank you so much for putting up with us here. I'd like to thank our good friends the Kings Of Leon for letting us play,"

Maybe he was trying to take full advantage of the oppurtunity? They haven't been able to play in front of that many people very many times so maybe they wanted to engage the crowd a bit more? Make some folks remember who they are and whatnot. Maybe they're way more confident now that they know, that all of us know, that they destroy all other bands in their path?

Plus, otherwise all those girls would have nothing to do but stand around updating their Facebook status "OMG WTF waiting for Kings to start, IDK like whatever =P"

tee hee.

I think's Dan's got the personality to do some charming while he's up there. A little chatter certainly wouldn't hurt.

Anyone ever go to Wilco shows? Tweedy usually gets the crowd laughing pretty good two or three times a show. Dan's got that same dry wit

Check out Jeff Tweedy's Sunken Treasure Live DVD if you haven't already. Great performance, and he has some very funny banter with the audience at numerous points throughout. Well worth a watch.

I wouldn't mind a little more chatter from Dan during TBK shows. Don't need a ton, it is a rock show after all, but usually all you get is "Hey everybody, we're The Black Keys, we're from Akron, OH", a few "thank you very much"'s and a "we've got a couple more songs to play for you". Not that that's bad, because you do get a bunch of kick-ass TBK songs in between...

reminds of the movie "That Thing You Do" with the band THE WONDERS. They are wore suits and the drummer wore same style glasses as Dan. I dig the look. They are that classy!
