Hi all,
I am new to the forum and am hoping to reach out to all of you for some suggestions for some additional programming to accompany the two Black Keys Concerts in Las Vegas next month. Suggested to me thus far are a post-concert party featuring Hacienda performing and a film screening of "Outside In", the documentary featuring Alfred McMoore the schizophrenic artists that the band named themselves after. What I want to know is what do the true Black Keys fans want to do and experience? I want to create a full Black Keys infused weekend experience as opposed to just going to see a concert and leaving. If people are going to come to Vegas to see the band perform they should be able to do other cool stuff. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Hello Everyone!
I think it's pretty awesome that The Cosmopolitan / Las Vegas are trying to accommodate the fans and give us a good time. Some great ideas have been thrown in, and I definitely think that a post-concert party featuring Hacienda and a screening of "Outside In" would be incredible. Filmmaker Q&A, perhaps?
However, who would be able to go to these amazing events? Is this going to be free or is it a VIP type of screening. The Cosmopolitan looks like a very exclusive and upper-class place.

cool idea
what about a tour poster exhibition
maybe an exhibition of alfred mcmoore art
and exhibition of tbk memorabilia
an exhibition of john peets tbk photographs
a dan and pat poker machine
They did that pop-up store at the Housing Works Bookstore in New York with a lot of great merch that wasn't available everywhere, so it would be very cool to have a sort of expanded or separate merch table that won't get the venue merch table/spot flooded with people.
Maybe an auction/sale and yes, as Brucini said, an exhibition of Mr. McMoore's art to raise funds for the charity in Ohio? I also definitely think Michael's work should be exhibited, especially since it's after the Grammys.
A Black keys slot/poker machine would be awesome.

-A mini-museum of Dan and Pat's influences, with artist bios and listening stations
-An Ohio bands/artists exhibit in the same vein, with a focus on Akron bands
-Black Keys videos on a big screen
Elaborating on what April said, perhaps a little lounge with a bar with music of Dan and Pat's influences? Maybe have them each make a playlist and market it as the songs that they chose? I know that Michael DJs... so like the photos I saw from Paris, maybe Dan, Pat and Michael can DJ a set.
Make up little drinks that reference their songs? Have photographs of influences and John Peets' photos in this lounge? Perhaps here have little TVs playing their music videos, as well.
Also, what 3wolves said about their gear -- a mini-museum of their [older] gear and a glimpse of their history -- how their sound evolved or something and their favorites/highlights.
I don't think the meet and greet/autograph table is very appealing, but they are at that stature now. It would be pretty cool if y'all did do the Hacienda (anyone from Blakroc would be incredible, as well, especially Nicole Wray, post-performance if Dan and Pat did a sort of "performance/Vegas wrap" and maybe did an intimate and small performance/interview with a great host/moderator and with less than a 100 people? As much as we LOVE the shows that Dan & Pat give us, especially after the crazy year they just had and are starting to have again, I know many fans are dying to hear some older and maybe slow stuff. Chulahoma!
Last thing. A sound check party is always great, but all these radio giveaways feel kind of worn out now. I saw tons of teenage girls winning "sound check" and "meet-and-greet" packages, and though I'm sure that's very cool, it is starting to feel impersonal and exploitative. It's about the music and always will be, so a damn good and interesting time is bound to create lasting memories. Meet-and-greets = an opportunity for a photo with someone like Justin Bieber who otherwise would not be really paying attention otherwise.
Thanks for reading!
