Jack White
Dr Dog
Tame Impala
Black Sabbath (w/ozzy)
The Growlers
Michael Kiwanuka
and many MANY more... they really did a good job of picking shit that I'm into this year.

Man, I'd love to go.
Can't.

Yeah it should be pretty cool but I don't think I'm going to buy a 3-day pass. It's $250+
Nice to have the festival in my own backyard though. Sleeping in your own bed each night and taking a shower... priceless.
I'll probably buy tix for 1 or 2 of the "aftershows" and maybe grab a one day pass once the schedule is released. The Keys always do an aftershow at the Metro, but who knows now that they play arenas.
I just don't dig the outdoor festival scene as much as I once did. Getting too old maybe? heh. To me it's more of an expensive party with some bands/music sorta kinda playing in the background. And the party has crappy overpriced food and beverage.
I guess I'm just a whiner, but I'll take a small indoor show over a huge outdoor festival any day. Seeing 2 bands I like at an indoor show is equal to or greater than seeing 10 bands I like at an outdoor gig. Especially if it's really hot or rainy. Hard to relax and enjoy the show...

PS- I hope The Black Keys play at the exact same time as Jack White. Make people choose!

I fear I too have outgrown the Outdoor Festy experience. It was once all I lived for, but shit changes drastically when you are 30 and have a wifey and kid with you. Nonetheless, that lineup is pretty sick, and im definitely happy for all that attend.
I seriously doubt TBK and Jack play the same day and time slot, Mirby, but I hope it happens. And I hope like 35 people show up for the Jack show!

I did 3 years of Bonnaroo back to back to back. Couple years of Lolla. I've had my share. It was fun mostly but also frustrating. I'm too uptight for those things I guess.
If the crowd at Lolla 2012 had to choose between Keys/Jack I think it would be 70/30 Black Keys at this point. They're just way bigger right now than he is. Even bigger than the White Stripes ever were, imo. I've read articles today that say stuff like "The Black Keys and RHCP to headline Lollapalooza". If you're billed as one of the top 2 most popular acts... you've arrived. Congrats. (somewhere right now Patrick is hyperventilating haha only joking of course but I know he has had issues with large crowds in the past, and I can't say I blame him, "god" bless that tall drink o' water )

I would ditch my coachella ticket in a heartbeat and go to lolla if I could see Pulp and Radiohead elsewhere.
Also fuck anybody who says they hope jack white and the keys play at the same time! come on mirb you said you were a regular at festivals, how awful is it when two bands you would love to see have conflicting set times! the worst. but on another note, if the white stripes were on that lineup you really think the keys would get a bigger crowd? i couldn't picture that.

If i went to Lolla, which i'm not, and they did play at the same time ,i'd choose to see Jack. Four years ago there's no way i'd choose Jack over TBK. Maybe it's because i've seen them so many times. Or maybe, and most likely, it's the increasing number of songs they play from the last two albums that i don't care for. It's just not the same as it used to be. At least i'd get a good spot , i guess.
I did have that happen 21 years ago, where i had to choose between two artists i loved that were playing at the same time, and it bothers me to this day. John Mayall and Junior Wells were playing at the same time at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis. I was really into John Mayall at the time and chose to see him over Junior. He put on a stellar show, but i always wonder what Juniors show was like. I did see Junior though, as he was leaving. We made eye contact and he waved. I was instantly depressed. I never did get to see him. He's my favorite harp player.

I really kinda wanna go. TBK and Sabbath and Justice and Bassnectar and At The Drive In. We should have a meet up. We could get beers and food at Kuma's they go to mirby's house and smoke a few bowls.

Sounds like a deal. Except we'd never get into Kuma's unless we were the first people there at opening. That place usually has a 2 hour wait. Plus they're soooo fucking cool - I really can't stand that place. Mostly because of the clientele and the crazy wait times. My wife and I used to go there when they first opened (we live less than a mile away) and we would get to sit anywhere we wanted because there would only be like 2 other customers in there. Now that they've gotten all this success you'd think they would expand or do something about the 2 hour wait times. Nope. They could give a shit. That's why I don't spend my money there anymore. They don't show me that they want my money. They disrespect me by basically sending the message that I should feel happy and lucky to wait two hours to hand them my hard earned cash. They be on some bullllllshit...
But the bowl smoking... that we can definitely do.

Okay folks well apparently Lollapalooza is only on Friday August 3rd...
Okay not really but for what I'm into - that statement is basically ture. I just bought a single day ticket for Friday. Black Keys, Black Angels, Black Sabbath, Tame Impala, Dr Dog, The Growlers and a few other goodies too. All on Friday.
Jack White is on Sunday. Seems like they may have grouped similar bands on each day, which is awfully nice of them. $100 for all those bands on Friday is not a bad deal. I'm glad I didn't bother with a $230+ 3-day pass.
See you dudes there. I'll be the tall guy.
