Sound - The drums are soundin so heavy these days, its awesome. Kick drum and floor tom just resonate through everytime patrick smashed two bells out of them. The guitar wow, i know people where saying they wanted to see the tele back, but fuck me that hollow body just rips through your skull when the riff kicks in on thickfreakness. Ah man it was just so loud and fat! A lot more variation in there though than just a fuzz box. The sound has improved massively, the two new players are so much more effective.
- Dan, man he just looks like he is lovin it so much more. He chatted at the beginning so much more than i've ever see him do in the past. Looks like he's relishing being in a popular band, little cheeky flicks of style and swagger when hes playing. He's added more to some of the older guitar parts etc that just sound ace!
- Patrick, his drumming has come on so much. He literally looks like he's fighting someone to the death all the way through the set. His beats are so groovy yet hardcore lol. They've definately been working on his drum sound, its like thunder these days.
- The crowd, it was interesting to watch the crowd, around the fringes you had people like ourselves bnouncing either to every tune (Like us) or to just the older stuff. And when you looked towards the middle, everyone was goin nuts for the newer stuff. The audience for the newer stuff was slightly younger but on the other hand even a 60 old woman next to me was groovin out to it lol. Although i didn't like the fact that these kids had come from nowhere and where bouncing to the twilight chop n change song etc, i have to say it gave the whole gig a great energy. Atmosphere was probably the best i've been to.
- The set, i couldn't keep track of all the songs, but they did (in no correct order) thickfreakness, busted, the breaks, everywhere i go, stack shot billy, no trust, till i get my way, same old thing, everlasting light, next girl, howling for you, shes long gone, ten cent pistol, sinister kid, too afraid to love you, strange times, i got mine... ah there's a couple more i think from the first part of the set. Awesome mix though, really good to hear a tune or two off TBCU. They had a lot more jams than usual, it was as if, Dan was eager to show off his guitar prowess a little more, no where near as reserved as i've seen them in the past. Defo a new wind of energy in their sails!
The last time i saw them i was a lil bit er off ma barnet and i was worried that due to that i may have built up the last gig i went to in my head to be better than what it was, therefore because i was driving and sober at this one i wasn't sure if it would have the same effect, but trust me as soon as you hear that intro to thickfreakness all those worries are sawn away by the fuzz based assault on your ears. eargasmtastic!
Going to get tickets for the liverpool gig and go nuts because its a saturday night haha. i'm throwin out an offer to the boys right now if they fancy joinin us in and around some of liverpools sights afterwards then we would love to take them for beverage haha!
ps i'll try and get the pictures/video up from the gig but neither is massively good quality tbh!
