I'm thinking about getting one. The only problem is it has no reverb tank, so I'm thinking of getting one of these as well:

It's a reverb tank that you plug in your chain as if it were a pedal. Anyone have experience with this? As well as anything to say about the JTM.

I tried a JTM45 a few years ago, but it was too loud and harsh for my tastes. I don't recall if it had a master volume or not. I also owned a mid-60's Fender reverb tank and used it externally (as an effect) with a few different amps for about 20 years. Try checking out a Fender Reissue Reverb Tank, the pre-amp tubes help drive the amp (eg. the marshall) in a cool way. I eventually sold the reverb tank because my current amp sounds better with delay than reverb. I found the venues I was performing at had natural room reverb and using my tank was too much (washed out my notes and tone) Experiment and find what works best for you and buy used; you'll save some cash. Post what you end up with I'd love to hear about it. ~Derek

you could get a boutique 5w head that would provide you with plexi tones that would let you crank it. also the reverb tanks are probably the best reverbs you can get that will give you an authentic sound, though if youre planning on recording u could use one of the many free impulse reverbs that sound absolutely amazing and can replicate various rooms like a studio or a cathedral etc

I would check into a Fender Bassman tweed/blonde/early blackface. I've heard that these can get into good marshall territory and don't really need reverb. A buddy of mine insits that a 63 6G6-B bassman is the best JTM-45 amp out there, like a fat-bottom'd JTM-45 on steroids he says. This budy of mine actually builds a 6G6-B inspired amp with on-board reverb.

JTM-45s are pretty sweet amps, and easily an amp that you could play any kind of hall with...with pedals ofcourse...I think a cranked JTM-45 would knock down walls in a small room!

Thanks for the advice guys. I'd LOVE to own a fender tube reverb, but it's 800 bucks. The preamp is cool but not something I need.

5 Watts is too small for me. It's nice to get overdrive at reasonable volume, but I need headroom as well.

I need reverb. Digital is not an option. Some people might be satisfied with natural reverb, but that ain't me.

Also, I'm looking for a live rig, not a studio set up. Some other amps I've been looking at are the Orange Rockerverb and a 1959 SLP

I used to own a DSL 100. Loved the thing, though it had it's problems. I sold it for financial reasons. Now I've got money coming in so I can get something better.

Have you considered the AC30 with blue speakers? 1500 and it's got some great reverb init

Or even a twin reverb. FANTASTIC reverb and tremolo and it's 1400. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Vintage-Reissue-65-Twin-Reverb-Guitar-Amp?sku=480505

You play bass? Whats up?
