I came accross this interview of Rene from Hacienda. It's from earlier in the summer but it's a pretty good article about their new album Big Red and Barbacoa (which is KICK ASS by the way) and the San Antonio sound which is pretty unique. One interesting tidbit was about halfway through the article when asked if they were putting out another album soon and he replies: "Oh yeah, definitely. We may even do another Fast Five record with Dan. It may happen this year or early next year. It’ll be fun." I feel like there is probably nothing concrete in the works considering how busy both the keys and hacienda are, but the fact that Dan has produced both Hacienda albums and put out a solo effort with them tells me that they have developed a great working relationship we shouldn't downplay a keep it hid follow up sometime soon. Thoughts?

Might just be wishful thinking but I do hope it is true. Keep It Hid is still my favourite Auerbach album...

Man i sure hope so. They sure run a tough schedule. I'm curious at the mention of them playing on "another" album since none of Hacienda (according to the Keep it Hid liner notes) played on the album. They nailed it live though both times i saw them with Dan. It's a great show, and a lot easier to get up close at a "Dan" show.

The thing that DA&TF5 did that TBK don't ever do is have some surprise cover songs. I was fortunate enough to see DA&TF5 twice and it was amazing both times. Really hope they do that again. It was like Bob Dylan and The Band. Such a great show/vibe/time. More "bandlike" and jammy than TBK. It's not fair to compare the two (TBK vs DA&TF5) though - different size, different possibilities/options.

Robbie is a brilliant song-writer but I tend to fall on the Levon end of the debate (though I don't think there's a right answer!)
While we're discussing the album-- Does anybody know where I can find a link/stream/whatever of the original "I Want Some More"? The 60's bubblegum pop one. I know I stumbled across it a while ago but now I can't seem to find it. It was written by Wayne Carson Thompson.

I just happen to have written a post about it.

Thanks! Also, damnit! I was afraid of that. I'm on an outdated computer that chokes at the thought of YouTube, so I couldn't check it. Sorry.

This is what confused me as well. I think it's a mix of wishful thinking and half-assed promises "yea man we'll totally record one soon!" but I reallllly hope this pulls through. I don't even know what I want worse, another solo album or another fast five tour...
Why the hell hasn't Dan cloned himself yet?? Fucker.

Really hope Dan does get another record out, would be especially awesome if Hacienda were part of it. I was really disappointed when DA & TFF cancelled some of their dates last December, I was all psyched up to see the show and then it didn't happen.

I would like to see another Dan solo/Fast Five tour and album. It does go a little deeper than Just Dan and Hacienda...I mean there is a little band called My Morning Jacket that has an interested party in that mix, too.
I would like to see Hacienda live before the next Dan Auerbach & Fast Five record/tour.

Dude, that shit is deceptive. When it started out I was thinking this was going to be heavy, much like the way Dan did it, but then you get that Old West saloon piano going and it turns into a jaunty little ditty. Threw me a curve there...
