Similar to what everyone else said, if you want something quirky/weird you're going to need to find yourself a Dan Johnson to give a few paychecks to trying to make it serviceable. I'm not sure if that's why Dan replaced Jamie as TBK guitar tech, but I remember them having some guitar technical issues in the past. Selfishly, I'm glad Jamie's doing EQD now anyhow!

Sometimes you can get a sweet deal on a used guitar. I just picked up a Squier Standard Telecaster on Craigslist for $80. I own guitars that cost over $1000 and I have to say that my Squier guitars ( I also have a Tele Custom II) sound and play quite nicely. I wanted a tele that had that classic twang. It also sound great through a fuzz.
