...they should tour countries they've never been before, like East Europe and South America.
I don't even know if they have played in Scandinavia, or in other fantastic places like Greece or Turkey.
Now, more than ever, they should try new routes.

Well they're not that well based in these areas. I mean even aside from the UK, a lot of their venues they do in mainland Europe only attract a fraction of the people they do in the US. To date: I've been a fan since early 2002 and I have attended 20 of their concerts and 2 of Dan's solo. I have also met Patrick quite a few times, but never Dan unfortunately. Well, playing all those "small" places is one of the things that really got them well known from the beginning. So maybe they should do the same over here... Not that they really need to anymore (but they can't play arenas over here)... Posted 5 months ago #

It makes zero sense financially to go traipsing all over the globe playing small shows to people in remote areas. The smaller the venue, the less the reward - PLUS it costs more to tour to remote areas rather than stay on the circuit of heavily populated ones. Dream all you want. Not going to happen. The band is their job. Their "company". And there are more people's futures and livelihoods at risk that just their own. Why would they run it into the ground on purpose by embarking on a journey that would cost them a fortune? Maybe if that was their lifelong dream (to tour a bunch of remote areas and see the world) or something but I'm guessing they've had their fair share of fun out there and at this point, if it don't make dollars - it don't make sense. I don't know where you live, but east europe is not a remote area. I'm sure they've received offers from clubs and festivals down there, plus they still can play as "2 piece band" and it wouldn't cost them a fortune to go in some of those places.
With the amount of money they'll get just with the first part of the tour in europe and america, nobody's future and livelihood is at risk if they'll play somewhere in east europe or south america. Posted 5 months ago #

It's quite obvious that you're an american... How are these places remote? It's like an hour by plane from like holland or london. But I (and everyone else) knows that they don't "need to". They don't even "need to" tour ever again after this record. But I bet they will. And that they would "run their company to the grown" by visiting scandinavian countries is just not true in any way. I don't think they bring the same stuff to Holland as they do to the arenas in the states. It's quite clear that the have been aiming for aus and southern europe + UK (outside the states) but they would still make more fans in the other countries if they just came there. More fans - more money... And it wouldn't be "small shows" anymore, not even close to arenas but still 2000+ people. Posted 5 months ago #

I'd be interested to know how bands do expand to touring new countries. I know zilch about the live music biz. Tours are generally in support of album releases, does WBR keep tabs on sales and let them know where they're doing well to keep in mind for next time, or future legs? You guys are the ones who said small shows. And yes you also listed what I consider to be remote areas. "...they should tour countries they've never been before, like East Europe and South America. Eastern Europe? That's pretty general and includes countries like Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine... And South America? Are you fucking kidding me? That's not REMOTE? Not to mention DANGEROUS. Talk shit all you want. The fact is that big bands come to the US to tour and make shitloads of cash. Rolling Stones - Led Zeppelin ... where the fuck do you think they toured and got big and made their cash? Estonia? Peru? WRONG. Try again. America = lots of people with a fair amount of money to spend on things like $30 t-shirts and $55 rock concerts. Posted 5 months ago #

Dangerous?! Mirby im Argentinean, please why dont you READ a little before you speak. Buenos Aires is as dangerous as New York city or any big city around the world, and South America is filled with foreing bands. Eric Clapton came here in October and in September we had the Red Hot Chili Peppers, on March Roger Waters is doing 9 (Yes 9!) shows on the River Plate Stadium. Im also pretty positive than you like most of the people who live in the USA (im not going to say America because im also an American since I live in the southern part of the continent) think South America is the same as Mexico, and thats just incredibly foolish. Once again, why dont you read a little and get informed before you say offensive things? It's gonna be loud, are you ready? -Dan Posted 5 months ago #
