Since there were tons of rumors on fashion threads interweaving off-topic in other threads annoyingly, I decided to create and official one where all fashion trends can be discussed.

Ok, let's admit it...The Black Keys have the best sunglasses than any other band...or at least my other top two which are The Strokes and Radiohead. Julian C. wears $700 custom made Louis Vuitton which are too big for his face and Thom wore aviators in the 90's then red lenses Prada glasses for a year and then stopped for good....thank god.

But Dan and Pat know their fashion. $400+ jeans from imogeneandwillie.com in Nashville....Patrick Carney's western shirts from Banana Republic...but I still don't know where Dan get's his shirts/jackets from... so there's research potential there.

As for their glasses Dan owns: two pairs of Mosley Tribes...one called 'Gates' and the other 'Sylford'. He has been seen wearing these two glasses in a couple music videos such as "Too Afraid To Love You" along at both the Lollapalooza concerts I have been to with them, and a few interviews. I own both of them and they're epic...both are more or less wayfarer styles. Dan also owns a pair of glasses which look like the 'Gates' but in the front have 3 silver dottings on each side...what are these? He seems to wear these the most. They look like Olivers People's but they don't seem like it upon closer inspection.

In an interview he also had once prescription wayfarers by RayBan just like Patrick...I don't know if they swapped glasses that one occasion for fun. As for Patrick we all know he wears Wayfarer prescriptions by RayBan and when he plays in sunny weather he has Wayfarer sunglasses again by RayBan. However in the early days (Big Come Up/Rubber factory) he went around wearing different glasses that were more wide and less taller than wayfrarers...anyone know these?

I know this is a lot of info but it's all correct...I do my research properly like any obsessed fan would and validate it too

Other things to watch for are their: shoes, belts, Dan's vintage/hipster necklaces that he sometimes wears...and other things.

Can someone who lives in Nashville just follow Dan and then rip his shirt off and run away? lol jking...

To date: I've been a fan since early 2002 and I have attended 20 of their concerts and 2 of Dan's solo. I have also met Patrick quite a few times, but never Dan unfortunately. The Black Keys are a part of my soul.

Oh man. Something about this post is kinda draggin me down. No offense (Hi and Welcome by the way) meant toward you... I think it's just that "TBK" and "Fashion" just don't jibe in my head. Knowing that they pay ridiculous amounts of money for jeans is... somehow...sort of like peeking behind the curtain of The Great and Terrible Oz.

Aw who cares if people want to know about their "fashion" and style of clothes. It's not like we are critiquing what they wore on the red carpet or some lame shit like that. I for one could not really care less about 400 jeans or banana republic shirts but some do and if that floats their boat, so be it.

Ps I actually found this useful because for the longest time I've always wanted to know what kind of sun glasses those were. thank you.

Haha,I couldn't read very far into the first post... Yeah, it's a little ridiculous to discuss their fashion, especially because when listening to music, I've never thought about what any musicians were wearing when recording or playing live.

But to each their own. Some people are diehard music fans, and some enjoy the pop culture aspect of it a fair deal.

I just wanted to quickly peek at this post, and now I realised it's definitely not why I check in on this website.

Good thing we can pick and choose what to check out around here!

Fashion talk.

Is it a sign?

So far, this Rapture/Apocalypse has been pretty boring.

Kenny Powers: I hear you there. For some folks this is sort of thing is just an enjoyable part of the experience of loving an artist. I meant no offense to Sir George or anyone else. I just didn't expect to find that here, on this forum.

I generally dislike forums, haven't participated in one in far too many years to count. I have not found a forum where I felt there was a good mix of intelligence, serious music appreciation, decent discussion, a general taste in music that is appreciable to my own palate, a bit of humor, and last but not least, a low number of dickweeds. I like this forum. I like the people here. And the serious and detailed discussion of fashion (in not one but two threads) just caught me off guard is all.

Like I said, these posts stole a bit of the mojo for me. But it's cool. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to enjoying an artist in the way that best suits them. And, as you aptly pointed out, some people find the fashion information useful.
So, it’s all cool in the end. As I said, (in one or the other of these fashion threads), I do realize this reaction is my problem.

Hi all, and thanks for the greetings Capricorn...and no offense is taken, I completely understand how a band can be devalued if they show off shallow and materialistic attitudes.

If you look at the Nashville google map where the admin/blogger is tracking TBK locations, imogene+willie is on there and Dan/Pat are friends with their owners and buy their $200-$400 jeans from there... but hey TBK aren't no Lady Gaga, exactly how often do you see them changing? I've been to many BK concerts and without a doubt I have seen them wearing the same clothes many times (especially patrick with his beloved green/navy blue plaid shirt :-D). So maybe they believe quality over quantity? Or they own tons of copies of the same clothes...which I highly doubt.

They have a moderate sized wardrobe and don't show off...these guys are mega-millionaires so obviously their going to have some large commodity and their clothes and musical equipment which are the main two things that represent them on stage are important. They don't live in mansions, drive Italian sportscars, own yachts, or do investments/wall street...yet they could easily do all those things. Pat told MOJO magazine in this months interview that he bought a bugalow built in the 1920's in nashville that moderatley large...but you wouldn't imagine a celebrity lives there....I assume Dan's property isn't too different from this either. If you look at the places they eat at or places they hang out, they're average or run-down fast food joints... Pat even said that sometimes on weekend nights he doesn't hang with his producer because he goes to "expensive nightclubs for rich people where you pay $40 for a burger" and hangs with Dan at the TGIF in Nashville.

Don't flame the guys because they furnished good homes and good looks...compared to the money they have in their bank accounts they haven't spent any of it practically.

Remember guys...TBK grew up in lower class/lower-middle class families...Pat ate off the dollar menu at McDonald's for a REALLY long time with his $5 a day. I'm glad their rich now, and without a doubt I think they give to charity as well.

Also the Louis Vuitton glasses belong to Julian Casablancas whose the lead singer of the strokes...he's the man though...

Guy's I LOVE the black keys...fashion is just as small fraction of their I love. They look nice no doubt...and I'd rather turn to them and their artsy roots/tastes than say...esquire or hollywood.

FALSE... I'm not claiming to know how much money their respective families earned, but you are wrong. They might have been short on cash for the first half of their musical careers, but what you said about them growing up "in lower class/lower middle class families" is definitely not true. I live not too far from their parents' houses, and some of my friends happen to live in across the street from them, so I know what I'm talking about in this instance. Sorry, I sound like a dick, I know...
Also, your quote about the "$40 burger" is taken out of context. It was talking about Pat not liking to hang-out with Dame Dash at parties in New York. Since Mirby's gone, somebody has to be the info nazi...
All in all, I somewhat agree with you. They can do whatever the hell they feel like doing with their money, I just couldn't imagine $400 jeans. But who am I to judge, I haven't ever been in their place.

Dan and pat are so well known for their artsy roots tastes!

And sir George if you love TBK and fashion is only a small fraction of the amount you love them, then I can't wait to see a thread of yours explaining the music in so much detail and what you clearly consider to be "fact" you should be able to blow my mind with your amazing insight if that is the bigger part of your appreciation of the band.
