I know Carney is usually a Paiste guy, but on the Live at Abbey Road clips, he's using some sort of Zildjian ride and crash and they sound unbelievably awesome (better than the Paiste's IMO). Can anyone identify the specific Zildjian ride model he's using (they have the painted logo, so they're not super vintage or anything)? The drummer for my band is looking for a good ride to buy, and I'd love it if he got whatever is in that video. Any help from you cymbal-knowledgeable folk would be much appreciated!

I think he is using a K custom dark thin or medium crash, probably an 18. I can't tell what the ride is but the hats appear to be Quick Beats. Posted 5 months ago #

Thanks, I think you're right on on the crash and hats! The ride is definitely tricky, cuz you don't get to see the top really, but I'm really curious what it is, because it sounds fantastic when he lays into it on "I Got Mine". It's hard to tell whether or not it has a "brilliant" finish or not, but it definitely is a newer Zildjian (painted logo) and looks like a 22", so there can't be too many possibilities. It could be a 22" A Zildjian Medium Ride or a 22" A Custom Medium Ride, or possibly a K series. Has anyone played any of these and could offer their thoughts? Posted 5 months ago #

Well, I've got a 20'' K Heavy Brilliant, and it is awesome! It's not the same thing, but should sound equally nice. IMHO, Zildjian K series is the best choice. Posted 5 months ago #

Is it safe to presume that Pat uses different cymbals for studio and live settings? Mostly Zildjian in the studio, and Paiste live? I have some Zildjian K darks and Paiste 2002s. I personally like the 2002's for rock but cymbals vary so greatly even within the same brand model. Snackshop Billy..... Forty Fries..... Posted 5 months ago #
