I know Pat uses Ludwig drums, but does anyone know what model?? (ex. Classic Maple, etc?)

Looking for inches and wood specs. Here's a picture of the drumkit he's been seen with on tour lately:

Judging by the keystone badges, I'd say he's using Classic Maples. He has a 14x8 snare, a 16x16 floor tom and a 18x16 floor tom. He appears to be switching up his rack toms, sometimes he uses a 13x9. Sometimes a 13x11. The kick could be a 22 or 24 by 18. It's hard to judge because Patrick is very tall and lanky. Of course, these are just my estimates. But these are educated guesses nonetheless.

Here is a good article on Pat's drums, though he doesn't disclose sizes.

Thanks Nort.

By the way, I like how this is basically the only thread in Equipment Discussion that doesn't have to do with guitars.

Drummers are people, too. You guitar-loving fanboys.

Lol.

Drummers who don't practice, and put up Youtube videos of themselves playing Black Keys songs, are foolish and embarrassing to good drummers. Anyway, back to drum sizes. It occurs to me now that when I saw TBK in Central Park over the summer, Pat was using a 14x10 rack tom. Bonham style.

It's hard to imagine him not using a 24 or 26 kick drum. Most of the time, I see a 24 but he has been known to bring out "the Pig" every once in a while.

MD: The kick drum sound on Brothers is so dense and full of tone-it's really locked in with the bass guitar tonally. And the snare drum has such a throaty attack, a real thwack. How involved were you in getting the sounds?

Patrick: [Producer/engineer] Mark Neill did all the tuning of the drums. Live I use a Ludwig kit. For that record we used a '50s Gretsch kit with old Zildjians. We had an SM57 on the snare and floor tom, a Neumann KM 84 as an overheard right in front of my eyeballs, and an old Shure 58S or 56S-an old Elvis-looking mike-about a foot off the kick drum.
