I'm not a drummer so I could be talking out my ass right now, but it seems Pat is doing something a lot different for this tour. And besides about adding another tom. The drums seem to have a fuller, deeper sound. I think he's made some big changes to his equipment.

When I saw them live I remember it was very punchy compared to most drummers that I've heard, every thud went straight through me. I haven't seen them before this tour so I can't compare, but watching videos the older stuff seems to have a much thinner sound. Compare anything from the 2005 DVD to 2010. Even stuff from 08-09 is quite a bit different from how he sounds today.

Anyways just wondering if anyone else noticed a difference this tour.

I really think they've just gotten better live. Dan's tone just kept getting fatter and fatter and Pat went right along with it. This might be wrong, but I've also noticed from watching old videos that they tended to rush through everything at a breakneck speed. I never saw them then, but my bro mentioned it and I agree. Just compare songs off the old DVD to the new one. They just let each note kind of hang there. So maybe an equipment shift, but also just a general shift in the way each song is played.

Only saw them on this tour and the A&R tour but I noticed that Pat beat the ever loving $#%t out of his kit when I saw them this year.
