That was one hell of a show, minus the "dude-brahs" (as dusty calls them) up front that decided to start undressing and throw their shirts on stage. I got some video I'll post here later, assuming it sounds good enough. "But, you know, you never know, you know? I dunno." Posted 4 months ago #

Haha yeah those guys were weird. For those who weren't at the show, there were 5 dudes right in front of Parker at the stage who were going nuts yelling "Radio Moscow!! Fuck yeeeah!" and shit like that, which is great, but then for some reason they all ripped their shirts off, threw them up on stage, and started playing half naked rugby with each other. It was very distracting since the venue only held about 50 people. Harmless, but annoying. But they weren't hurting anyone so whatever. Good times I guess. In other more important Radio Moscow news... Yesterday I checked their website and it said that Parker had a new drummer and bassist. I thought that was kind of odd but whatever, shit happens. So we're at the show and the 2nd opener is just finishing up their set (Velcro Lewis Group, great set, so much fun) when in walks Parker and a few other gangly looking dudes. At this point, it's about 10:30pm and they haven't even loaded in. (sorry I'm a bitch, I have to get up at 530am for work) So they start loading in their gear and setting up, and this tiny little club is pretty packed for 11pm on a Monday night, 85% full maybe? And I'm noticing this huge gash on Parker's forehead, looks only a few days old, if that. So anyway, here's the "good" part, they finally get ready to play by around 11:15 or so, and Parker goes "hi we're Radio Moscow but before we start this I wanna tell you a little story..." and goes on to say that he just played a show the other day in his hometown in Iowa, and just before the show, his band quit on him. He adds that the guitar was thrown at his head (hence the jacked up forehead), and that those guys were definitely not in the band anymore. Then he says that the two dudes up on stage with him right now are some guys he just enlisted last-minute, and the drummer hadn't ever actually even played with him before. Ever. He's like "uh, we're gonna try to put a set together for you guys..." Pretty crazy stuff. It was fun and they definitely did a good job, but it was obvious that the two guys were new if you had ever seen the previous version of Radio Moscow before. No big deal though, it was a $12 show. I appreciate them giving it a shot and it was a success overall. I had fun. They played a shortened set but they hit basically all of the songs I wanted to hear. Lucky Dutch, Broke Down, 250 Miles, etc. *Parker was using a sea green Airline guitar with dual 'buckers and a Bigsby. He usually rocks a Strat, so maybe the Strat was damaged by his forehead? Heh. Griggs hasn't lost a step though. That guy is a fucking mad man on guitar. He's just WHALING away playing some crazy shit and I'm all watching his hands work, and then I look up to see his face, thinking I'm going to see him wincing and concentrating really hard... nope. Haha, he's grinning real wide and looking over at his bandmates with this expression like "isn't this GREAT!!?" - and of course they're probably trying their absolute hardest not to fuck anything up too bad. Pretty funny stuff.

Oh and Parker was playing through an old Supro head (Sportsman?), looked very much like this one here... (and had a Gibson head for a backup) Posted 4 months ago #

Here's the two full tracks I recorded (I'll post some of the Velcro Lewis Group once I get it uploaded):
Also, this was on Radio Moscow's FB page. It shows exactly what happened onstage with the old lineup's last show: Posted 4 months ago #

Haha you can see the back of my head in Nick's videos. I was the short dude with canes. We should have had a meetup beforehand at Kuma's or something. Posted 4 months ago #

Yeah VLG was insane. I've never seen a washboard actually used live, let alone an electric one run through pedals. Posted 4 months ago #

I should mention that I thought Strychnine was also a pretty good band, but I failed to record any of their set. Here's their MySpace page though: Posted 4 months ago #

Hey Nick. Cool videos. That second VLG song is called Look What You've Done. (I'm the bass player). We do have a song called Don't You Pity Me, but didn't play it last night. Posted 4 months ago #
