Got the reso! It's badass. I took it apart, oiled the fretboard and changed the strings. Found a few spots where the factory didn't buff all of the polish off of the body - where the cone sits on the body. It came off real easy, just like dry car wax comes off of a car. That let the cone make better contact with the body and seems to have improved the sound/resonance. And like I said, I changed the strings because 99% of new guitars come from the factory with very cheap/crappy strings. The tuners are actually pretty nice for a budget guitar and I probably won't replace them unless one breaks.
I plan to have my local shop do a setup on it and replace the cheap plastic nut with a proper bone one. Oh and the strings I put on it are 12's, but I think it needs 13's to get the proper resonator sound going. The stock strings were at least 13's, but they were such awful quality that it was rough to play. I'll probably get some quality 13's and change'em up soon.
I also ordered a gig bag, a stand, some fingerpicks. If anyone is interested, this Rogue Brass Body Resonator fits perfectly inside the MusiciansFriend Classical Guitar case. I just didn't want to spend the dough on a hard case right now so I went with a 3/4 size soft bag for it.
Great guitar for the $$$ spent.
