CAUTION: I'll be bitching and pissing & moaning...

1. Do you think it's a cover song? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonely_Boy_(Andrew_Gold_song)

2. Does it bother you that both the A and B side (Run Right Back) are both going to be on the full album which gets release just a week or two later? In other words, are you cool with buying 2 songs and then buying them again just a week later?

3. Record Store day is in April. Does it bother anyone else that there's another record store day too? Hell, I have an idea - why not pick a certain day of the week, oh let's say Tuesday? Yeah, Tuesday. So every week on Tuesday they should release new albums and oh... wait... they already fucking do that.

hmph..

na, i dont care that its a cover song, if it is. TBK seem to get it right when doing covers. but yea, yea that is a bit bogus about there not being something on the RSD release that isn't going to be on the album. Which leads me to.. WTF?!! as you said, i thought RSD was in April? Is there more than one RSD, or are they just calling it that? Where did this info come from?

I wasn't asking if you care if it's a cover. I was asking if you think it is a cover.

And yeah with the record store day thing, okay so they say it's a "limited" 12" single. So that's the value? Because it's limited? Weak sauce.

Hopefully there's more to it than meets the eye. Back in April 2010 they did that super special magic secret RSD thing...

So yeah, hopefully there's more to it than just 2 songs which will both be on the full album.

I think RSD has been at least a bi-annual event for a couple years now. Think "Christmas in July," "Halfway to St. Patty's Day," etc.

"Since huge quantities of information can be computer-digitalized and transmitted, music researchers could, for example, swap records over the Net with "essentially perfect fidelity."

I have no,clue if its a cover or not. I wasnt there when it was recorded, nor do I know Dan or Pat. This why I just stated if I care wether or not they do another cover. I personly like it when they do covers. I'm talking about their music. Not wether or not I THINK it is a cover. It could be, it could not be. There is a lot songs out there titled Wish You Were Here. But they aren't covers of Pink Floyd. If it is a cover,.cool!
Yea, I definitely hope there is some special sauce to go along with it. I will Damn sure be checking the outer edge when I tear it open!

Just wait and buy the full album. Once. Wherever it is cost effective for you to buy it (probably Amazon). If you think about it...everything's limited.

My 2 cents.

@mike - yeah it was a once a year thing at first but quickly progressed to a twice a year shindig. but that's what pisses me off. you can't have two. are there two of any holidays? no. it waters the whole thing down. buncha bulllllshit.

@mr.sips - easy there fella, not trying to get your panties bunched. i started this thread and asked if anyone had any thoughts on whether or not that song is a cover song. i thought, based on your reply, that you misunderstood the question. i was wrong i guess. ps- i also like their cover songs a lot.

@rufus - good call. they're bigshots now. it's fair game to find the goods as cheaply as possible.

@mirbs, thanks for the caution. It would be nice if the the record store day release was a limited outtake of some sort. Hell, TBK must have quite a number of them from all the albums they have done?!? Hard to tell if "lonely boy" is gonna be a cover. But i wouldn't put it past Dan and Pat to include a little sumptin' special with the 45's like they did before, as you referenced.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-black-keys-reveal-cover-art-for-lonely-boy-20111020

Rolling Stone has the exclusive cover art for the single, which was designed by the band's creative director Michael Carney, who won a Grammy for his album packaging for their previous album, Brothers. "I went to take a picture of the building that the album Rubber Factory was recorded in, and this is what was there – a giant pile of bricks and a bulldozer," says Carney. "The back cover is a pile of discarded tires behind an abandoned shopping mall."

Sweet! Thanks for the info Brucini.. When I saw the cover of Lonely Boy on the TBK site earlier, I was wondering what the significance of the bulldozer was. I just hope that the music (the entire Lp as well) is as dirty as the art!

Fuckin aye.. I'm always down for a cover by the boys.. The songs they cover always lead me to exploring older tunes, and artist I may not know much about.
