So the new album is here. Officially. The late night show performances. The arena rock tour. A busy 1st quarter to 2012, no doubt. But then what? Any ideas on what their next move is? Realisticly, the band themselves probably haven't even planned their next move yet - but it might be fun to guess.

Personally, I think I'm going to take some time off from the forum. I may have worn out my welcome with more than a few folks here anyways. Plus let's be honest, most of us only show up when there's a new album about to drop. Not only that, it would probably be best for me to start doing some actual work while I'm at work.

So yeah, don't be alarmed if you don't hear from me. I know you'd all be worried sick if I hadn't given this notice.

Next move? Dan, Pat, guitar, drums. Lay some trax down and put it out. Just straight up rock and roll, its what they do best.

wrong thread but only just thought of it after reading pitchfork interview...

would tighten up have fitted on El Camino somewhere? If you take that song alone and put it in El Camino's context. forget about how it works in Brothers in fact forget Brothers was made...

anyways, mirby. stop throwin out the i'm leaving stuff again lol if your going just come and go as you please like other people do. no one else announces their time off from the forum.

as for the band. lets just have a chance to go see em live before we worry about other music and whether or not thats the end of TBK as we know it

Touche.

But in my defense, no one else around here has ever been asked/told to leave, so...

What if they did what MMJ (and Weezer) did recently and play their complete albums, one at each show? That would be swell.

I would love to hear TBCU played from start to finish, seems like it would be perfect for that.

After they finish touring, they'll probably want to get back into their new studio and start recording again. I'm guessing we'll see them produce and record with some other bands during 2012, and then record a new Black Keys album spring 2013 and release it during the summer or fall.

I'd like to see them work with other bands, in particular would be spectacular with Black Mountain and Black Angels .

I think with a huge tour and a whole lot more success they will take time off when everything El Camino is all said and done. Maybe Dan will desire to play smaller venues and do some solo touring with the fast five.

I hope Dan will tour with other musicians, nothing against Hacienda but I'd like to see something different.

I feel like a break is coming. It seems like Dan and Pat have been running around non-stop since day one of The Black Keys. I think they deserve a breather if they want one.

As much as I would love to see it happen, I think a new Dan solo album/tour might cause a rift within the band...not sure what went down with the first one, but from what was written with the media pen...it seems like Pat was none too happy. I wouldn't mind if Dan cultivated some more bands and musicians as he's done with JLM and pretty much a majority of the Alive Records lineup.

Honestly, what the Black Angels have going on now...is a great thing, the sound, intentions, and work ethic are awesome...I can't see what Dan could bring to the table that already isn't there. As for Black Mountain,I only have Wilderness Heart and that didn't move me too much. Though, I've heard so many comparisons to the Black Angels, that I went in expecting awesome droning buzzy psych...I did get stoked on the song on Wilderness Heart that was similar to early Black Sabbath.
