to those who couldn't access the forum in the last hours

The Black keys Fan Lounge received a take down notice today which the hosting provider of this site acted on immediately and removed access to the forum directory

I can only reiterate that download links aren't allowed to be posted ie Next Girl. They have been removed.

I don't understand why linking to a blog where there's an embedded song that can't be downloaded is illegal ie Everlasting Light. Its been removed to comply and get the forum back online. Further advice is being taken on this.

Yea..proof positive of what I and thelengths and others have been talking about. As if it's a substitute good for the whole album. What-thefuck-ever. But sorry Brucini..Hope you don't get sued dude.

Please don't persist in adding download links. If you do, my only choice is to block your account if you do. It's nothing personal, you leave me with no choice. I'm interested in having a viable website.

This has been the case with StingyBrim.

Even after I posted this take down notice he re-added the link in another post which I've removed. He can take his battles elsewhere.

Whilst I can sympathise with everyone's differing view points, as has been noted elsewhere, you can go and find the links elsewhere on the Internet and download from there.

When i noticed it was down i kinda assumed this was the case, and it's fair i suppose.

So in the future are we at least allowed to post links to sites with the songs streaming or not?

Wow Warner Bros, real nice way to handle it. A Take Down notice? Big record companies are so disconnected from their audience. It's really no wonder why people decide to pirate music nowadays.

Oh well, I think you made the right decision brucini. What else were you to do?

@wontgetschooledagain regarding "So in the future are we at least allowed to post links to sites with the songs streaming or not?"

I'm hoping so, I don't understand why we can't. but it was cited in the take down notice. i'm hoping someone from Warner bros will clarify. v strange this is not ok. those sites with the song embedded would be getting take down notices as well. i dare say they will be sending a lot of them.

from the time the 'everlasting light' link was posted, there were emails going back and forth with warner bros wanting me to remove it. i didn't. clearly, the final straw was the download link for 'next girl'

Brucini- are you beginning to understand why TBK and their management discontinued their own forum. It's a pain in the ass, and it's usually thankless, but I think you're doing a great job. And, it's always good to remember that the legal shit about the music business has nothing to do with the actual music itself.

The Man strikes again! You are handling this perfectly Brucini, seriously. I agree, Warner is obviously the one who put these tunes out, (WAY too far in advance in my opinion), so why they are all surprised that dedicated fans want to share the music with others by providing the link is beyond me. Fuck em'. However, they do own it, so that's that. It just leaves a sour taste, that's the problem i have . I Wish they just released the entire album and were like "here ya go, enjoy." Wonder what Dan and Pat's take on this whole soap opera of an event it has become, is. Sure they love the dough, and they have earned it. But i can imagine a time in the future where they admit regretting not having as much control as they did in the past on things like what has transpired here. The things we go through TO ROCK!

@brucini: you say you suspended stingybrim's account, and I can easily see why, and I think that to a point, keeping this forum going should be the priority, even if that means complying with Warner, but i'm curious. is stingybrim gonna be allowed back? he's a pretty important voice in this forum I think, and i'd hate to see him go. but i also understand if your hands are tied.

@max like i said its nothing personal. he's a voice, like there are many voices. he can come back, if he wants to. he has his principles, i respect that. he posted the link again because of his principles. i'm left with no choice but to stop him posting, otherwise all i'm doing all day is playing a silly game of cat and mouse removing links. surprisingly enough i've got other things to do with my time.
its quite clear what will happen if these links are posted - the forum gets taken offline, not by me but by the legal process.

brucini,

Thanks for running the forum/site. Sad to see that Warner is playing hardball with you when you have been compliant with their requests.

This stuff really is comical at this point. Though I didn't look at it this way before, I do now. Why/how is this shit leaked? No one should have their hands on it except trustworthy people close to the band correct? Its getting out for a reason.
But of course it will be the fans fault one way or another. Why should we want to hear what the band is putting out when it gets out there, from whoever the fuck put it out there. If there are shitty people in the "circle of trust", why are they in there. And why does this seem to happen everytime an album comes out.
There may be legit answers to these questions, I just don't know them. Just a dumb fan who pumps tons of money into the band.
