So I'm quite certain Dan has at least one of these 60's Tesico guitars. I think Hound Dog Taylor may have played one at some point as well as Junior Kimbrough.

Check out this one I just found- it's in Chicago too!

Anyone have one? Share some pics? What do you think about them? I kinda wanna pick one up. I see them for $200-$300 a lot of times. That's not bad at all.

i don't have one but i have seen some in the singular vintage guitar shop down here in my part of town.

I've always thought they were pretty cool. Seemed solid when i picked em up and played em. never plugged one in plus down here they go for at least 13 to 1400 bucks so its a bit of a different story for me! not so cheapy!

i even have played a semi hollow body one here with a tremelo and that osrt of setup. very cool.

These were Hound Dog's guitars. I've been looking at them on ebay. Great prices for vintage guitars

Seems like they'll mostly just have to be for slide guitar. The frets and neck might need serious work to get them as playable as a newer guitar, no? Either way, for $200 I'd grab one. Those pickups are probably badass and would give you that Hound Dog sound.

Well my bass is not a teisco but a 67' Ventura. Alot of guitars/basses from Japan were all produced in the same factory and a different name plate was put on them at the end of the assembly line. Mine is solid , and I picked it up on ebay. So Im confident in both the guitars and in buyin on ebay

My old Leban fits that description very well and serves as my Open G axe. My Teisco's a slim hollowbody, and the pickups are crap. Feeds back like a mofo. (pretty wild because you can actually feel the wood in the guitar body moving!)
But for a couple hundred bucks, they're hard to pass up. Can't have too many guitars, man.

I had a sunburst Teisco Spectrum like this blue one for a while. There are two models that go by the name Spectrum: this one and a pointy-er version with split single coil pickups like the old Fender XII. The necks are usually pretty straight because they're made of like 22 laminated strips of maple. The frets are small like most Japanese guitars. The pickups were super weak. Now, I don't like hot pickups so you'd think that would be a good thing. These were weaker than weak. None of that magic you might be searching for. Quality control was suspect so there may be "good" versions of these pickups but mine were not among them. I did take the time to make up a set of templates should I ever want to build one myself.

There is a Teisco on UK ebay at the minute that is very much like the guitar Dan has in the 10am Automatic music video.
