If anybody was at the show last night, please do tell me if you agree with this article?

I'm still trying to refrain from speaking too much, but I must say that I felt the complete opposite. I also heard that Dan was a little under the weather and though I could slightly hear and see it, I think it was an amazing venue and they loved it.

Oh, and just to throw it out there, the two Asian girls... yeah, the hot one on the left is my cousin and I'm the nerd on the right. I brought my book because I was there pretty early... I finished it! Ha! Good times. Apparently Nor Cal doesn't do lines. Understandable. LA is a much different crowd.

Let's see how tonight goes...

Hmmmm that writer can kindly go fuck off. He doesn't seem to like their older stuff, fine, I'm sure we all disagree with him but that's his oppinion. But rambling on and on about how dissappointed you are that the lead singer didn't smile? Seriously? I think playing your ass off for thousands of fans who enjoy the music is more than enough. Maybe Dan was sick, maybe he was pissed off, maybe he was tired or having a bad night like any other human being or maybe he was just completely focused on the music as great musicians tend to be. There's nothing worse than having a musician who thinks that a microphone plus an audience equals an opportunity to share what wonderful jokes and insights into life they have, taking up half the show with unintelligent, mind numbing rants and shitty jokes (ie Dave Matthews and John Mayer). The keys are down to earth, focused and seem to really enjoy what they do...a big part of the appeal in my opinion. No smiles necessary, I'll take a face melting instead.

I think that bellwheef should be writing that review in italics lol. He obviously thinks he's a lot funnier than he really is. There's always a couple of critics who have to go against the grain and make up ways to say a band is shit once they start doing well. nevermind hey... gotta say though i was a bit suprised about the glitter ball lol!

Ya seriously, a disco ball?! And Phax was talking about strobe lights?? Please tell me this is just for Cali shows? Dear Jesus.

From the end of the article,
"Personal bias: I thought I liked the Black Keys a lot -- I have all their records and a T-shirt, and I've been going to their shows since before Thickfreakness came out -- but no way could I muster the dance-crazed enthusiasm of many in last night's crowd. I also wouldn't want to miss watching Auerbach torture his guitar."
Wait, so he does like them? I'm so confused. And wtf is a pregnant silence?

Ugh. Wasn't California supposed to drift away into the Pacific? What's taking so long?
No offense, JadeLuber, you look like my favorite bartender, so you're forgiven.

I'm probably asking for it but, what's with all of the California hate?

All the hate? It's just me. I can't stand the too-cool-for-school attitude. It's obnoxious.

Edit - though if Prop 19 passes I may change my sentiments.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the review seems overall positive to me. The reviewer only really seemed to have issues with the sound mix and the lack-of-smile (which, whatever - the fact that the reviewer even mentioned the color of Pat's shirt would indicate he should consider focusing more on sound than image) and had many more good things to say than bad, though some of the wording choices were, well, to quote him, "messy".

I think the person reviewing forgot that they are musicians, not actors. If he was feeling sick, down, etc. he doesn't have to put on a front. They still made beautiful music and gave the fans everything they could. That should be enough.

The pictures from the 2 nights made me think I was viewing some red carpet event. Jade-you are adorable. But some of the other pictures I saw were ridiculous. I love Cali, it's a dream of mine to visit Big Sur, but parts of that review make me second guess ever seeing a live show while I'm visiting.

Make sure your sneaker laces, they get tied.

I blame California.

lol love the use of italics... i don't think theres hate towards cali as a place, i think its the fact that all of a sudden their show goes from a banner behind then and some dim purple lights to a glitter ball and the black keys in bulbs for the cali crowd. like as if they are somehow more worthy or more important to influence....

im from the UK so i don't know the inner politics of USA, so i could be wrong.
