nugget - not sure if anyone's put this so bluntly to Dan before:

GQ: Did you ever read the piece his ex-wife wrote for Salon about their breakup?
Dan Auerbach: No.

GQ: You know the piece I'm talking about, though, right?
Dan Auerbach: She's written a couple pieces. I don't want to read anything she's got to say.

GQ: Did Pat read those things?
Dan Auerbach: I don't know. I hope not. She crushed that dude's soul. I hope he can stay away from her forever.

Nice piece.

That video is cool too. I think that's what our British friends call "taking the piss out of it" or something like that? You know, you see the video and you're all "oh cool the black keys" and you click PLAY and here's Dan shaking a percussion gourd or whatever, and Pat just dicking around with the tuners haha. Oh and the go karts. Fun little clip.

I'm curious to see if they mention TBK in the Jack White interview. The White Stripes are always brought up in TBK interviews but it doesn't seem to happen much the other way around.

Loved the MTV bit and shot Dan took at the Black Eyed Peas.. what a bunch of douchebags!. Great read overall.. the part where Dan spoke of his Uncle surviving the Holocaust gave me chillbumps... And I also really want to go ride some go-karts now!

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think it's because the White Stripes were successful before and have been around longer than The Black Keys, so these interviewers sort of imply that The Black Keys were influenced by/copied The White Stripes. It frustrates me to piss, because some of my friends think of it the same way.

Good interview... do you think they swapped out to play on the fact journalists don't know who they are and so maybe it was Pat that actually answered the interview not dan?! obviously not but nevermind. i agree about the survivors thing, they aren;t survivors, maybe if they had a shitty album n then bounced back that would be surviving. anyways quite enjoyed the interviewed and quite enjoy the effects and drum beat goin on in the little clip ace!
