Hey guys this is my first post so it may be a little lengthy. But basically I wanted to create a thread on this forum dedicated entirely to rare Keys tracks, b-sides, live performances, EP's, and singles. The Keys, like any other band worth their salt have been sure to include MANY of these in their short little career take-off in 2001. Just to start things off I will post this link that covers many of the tracks of notable mention.

http://www.last.fm/group/Blues-Rock/forum/84702/_/379933

This link divides the tracks into their availability classifications (downloadable, youtube video, or just "out there somewhere"). In a pinch I have used
http://www.video2mp3.net/ to convert youtube videos to mp3 format just so I have a "temporary version" in my iTunes into a higher quality recording is available.

I'm also going to use this time to declare that "Something on your Mind" is my personal favorite of these rare tracks. I consider it Dan's most heartfelt and meaningful lyrics (even more so then "the lengths", I'M JUST SAYIN!)

So with all this being said, get out there and find all the rare tracks and b-sides you can find, and most importantly don't be stingy with them. It appears that everyone here is a colossal Keys fan and would greatly benefit from a diverse collection of Keys-obelia.

Did someone say "stingy"?

Dan didn't write "Something on your Mind".
But I love that one too.

Funk #49 (James Gang Cover)
Summertime Blues (Eddie Cochran cover)
Flash of Silver
Here I am I Always Am (Cpt Beefheart cover)
Her Eyes are a Blue Million Miles (Cpt Beefheart cover)
I'm Glad (Cpt Beefheart cover)
Something on Your Mind (cover?)
Stay All Night (Junior Kimbrough cover)

There are probably more but this is what I came up with off the top of my head. Once I have a peek at my iTunes library when I get home I can list more. Not all are "rare" persay, but they are oddities or whatever. B-sides, etc.

haha, no i appreciate the correction. if anything it was worth joining this site just for now knowing that.

but i know how threads can easily go off on tangents so i'll post some more that I've heard about just from this site alone.

-Mr. Dibbs "Fight for Air" (Attack & Release iTunes exclusive)
-Here I Am I Always Am (???)
-Ohio (downloaded from theblackkeys.com for free after registration. "Brothers" bonus?)
-I'm Glad (Captain Beefheart cover)
-Her Eyes are a Blue Million Miles ('nother Beefheart cover off of "Covered, A Revolution In Sound: Warner Bros. Records)
-Chop & Change (Douche-light Saga: Eclipse soundtrack)
-Howlin' for You Remix (iTunes exclusive feat. Prins Thomas Diskomiks)
=The Moon ( )
=Thickfreakness (Split: The Six Parts Seven/The Black Keys - EP)
=Yearnin' ( )
- something on your mind (Strange Times EP)
-The Way I Feel When I'm With You (You're the One single)
=RC cola can filled with gasoline (The Big Come Up Demo)
=Cryin' won't make me stay ( )

I know many of these songs are listed in other parts of the site, but like I said I was hoping to put them all in one place.

I'll post some links for these soon too.

I'm not too sure about that mdevans, while on "The Moan EP" the song is entitled "the moan", I'm almost positive that on Split that particular version is called "The Moon". atleast thats what amazon and rhapsody say.

Come on guys, really? It's The Moan. The Moon is a typo. The Black Keys did a split with a band called Six Parts Seven.

http://www.amazon.com/Six-Parts-Seven-Black-Keys/dp/B0000AININ

I bought this when it came out. I didn't realize that it was not more well known. It's a live radio/studio set but it's pretty cool. RAW.

Tracks 2, 3, and 4 are TBK tracks. Track 1 is a Six Parts Seven song.

So yeah, I own this cd. The cd clearly says "The Moan", not The Moon. If you don't look closely, you might easily mistake it for The Moon but that's not what it says. Hope this settles it. Don't believe everything you read on the www.

I like Beefheart covers more than their originals... is there something wrong with me?
