This was my very first TBK and it was a fuckin blast. I've been to the venue (kool haus) a few times in the past but I always had negative experiences. I still think the venue isn't ideal, but beyond the odds Dan, Pat and Co. delivered in spades. They were awesome and made the night a positive one.

I don't remember the exact song order but it was the standard setlist they've been doing this tour. I wound up in a good position, mid-crowd, and as soon as Dan opened with his familiar "We are The Black Keys, from Akron, Ohio" the crowd burst into a roar.

They lauched into Thickfreakness and it was like an artillery cannon of fuzz, pounding away relentlessly. I had to headbang, everyone around me was compelled to do the same. Pat was furious on the drums, and even though at one point his cymbal loosened and fell down, he continued as if nothing happened. Dan was in high spirits and really fed off the crowd, swaying around effortlessly as he attacked his strings, playing crushing chords.

The Brothers stuff was great as well. Too Afraid to Love you was particularly haunting live. As they wound down the set, one of my fondest memories was the solo guitar break in Your Touch (you know what I mean). It sent chills down my spine as it filtered out, loud and proud, swamped in the natural reverb of the place. As soon as Pat kicked back into it, it became an overwhelming experience.

Then they left the stage, and the whole crowd started screaming ENCORE! ENCORE! at the top of their lungs. The energy built and built until finally they came back out. Even Dan was shocked, as he commented "We should come to visit Toronto more often!". This utterance was met with an instant YEAH!! throughout the entire crowd.

Apparently there were some douchebags at this show. Dan stopped mid song to call them out. What were they doing that got Dan so upset?

Yep. The Kool Haus is a shitty place to go see shows. Really the only reason I bought tickets to the Detroit show instead.

Ruining Stack Shot Billy AND shoving girls. I hope they got the tar beaten out of them ASAP.

Would it be wrong to favorite that video? Because that's pretty righteous.

I think this is yet another example of why I support the black keys so much. Not only are they excellent musicians, but they are down to earth and just good good guys. Pushing girls around? That's inexcusable and while it certainly sucked for some people to stop the song halfway through, it was the right thing to do and I hope he taught those assholes a lesson.

great...douchebags...something to look forward to come monday! I don't care though, I've put up with them at plenty of shows. Just as long as they keep their drunken bro dancing, hi-fives, and fist pumping to themselves...oh and the annoying "woooing".

Good for TBK for pointing out that they don't like that kind of BS going on at their shows.
