you may have noticed that this page has been on the blog side of TBK Fan Lounge ever since it started
http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/write-for-us/

i'm interested to know who out there in the forum is interested in writing longer form blog posts on the black keys?

there's such a wealth of knowledge in the forum members here, and this might be an additional platform to express yourself with. here's your opportunity to be a music writer

I'm no expert in writing or tbk but i can still manage to do a blog post a week. you'd be surprised how easy it is

posts will be published under your name/pseudo

i'd like to think we could review, via blog posts, many of the key shows this year

posts are little different to a forum post, but not by much.

you're a fan, so just write about what interests you, in a way which you think might interest others

if in doubt run your ideas past me. or just email me: brucini@theblackkeysfanlounge.com

note: blog posts are a little different in that there is some editorial control of what's posted to the blog, unlike the forum

posts generally read better with photos or video, so send those as well

maybe we can at least brainstorm a few ideas here and those interested might then go and write a post

anyways, throwing it out there

Definitely interested.

It's tough to come up with a good topic though. I'll have to give it some thought...

so to help get this ball rolling...

how about anyone who has an idea for a topic, post it here. just anything black keys related that you would like to read about. then one of us can snatch up one of the topics and run with it.

i'd like to write, but i have no idea what the topic should be. the black keys have been around for a long time and have had many things written about them. not to mention the fact that most interesting articles have interviews/facts in them. and since none of us have any direct contact with the band, it's tough to get factual and interesting material worth reading (that hasn't already been done).

oh and brucini has to authorize the topic so it would be best to run it by him before you "run with it".

cheers MirbyGnits

generally, my editorial control will only be about correcting bad grammar and spelling And general fact checking or outrageous opinion

here's some ideas to get fans thinking, these are easy ones that anyone could do:

- review a show, but find an angle. the easiest angle is the fact you are fan. most reviews are earnest wank and they all read the same. here's an alternative vision within a 'review' context http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/2009/01/reviewthe-black-keys-the-palais-melbourne-australia-11-january-2009/
- write about an encounter with the band ie. http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/2010/03/back-stage-with-the-black-keys/
- delve deeper into the lyrics ie. http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/2009/08/the-black-keys-leavin-trunk-vs-keep-it-hid-song-lyrics/
- discuss how dan plays the guitar or pat the drums. maybe illustrate with tabs or video of playing
- get hold of an original set list or piece of memorabilia from a show ie. http://theblackkeysfanlounge.com/2009/04/dan-auerbachs-set-list-2009/

anyways, over to you

i don't mind having a go at writing, i can be quite eloquent satirical and sarcastic wheni pull myself out of the txt form of writing lol! But at the moment there isn't much to write about, i'll give a review of the album maybe from a musicians point of view including lyrics, music, production, expectations and future direction and then maybe tag on the review with the album songs as seen live once i've been to a live show in July. i know this is all in the future but would be good. Anything i write will be sent through to you first and if you don't want to post thats fine, i just like writing both fiction, fact, songs, poetry n bullshit

Haha, it would have been much better if she had! She's an English major, currently working towards her Masters in Library Sciences.

jeez, it seemsthe black keys could release a pretty sweet album of b-sides, covers, and other rarities!

It's funny that I've had a turn table for the last few years, and never once have I "celebrated" record store day. This year I was a day late, and missed out on the Howlin' For You/Tighten Up 12" (if my record store even got it)I guess there is always next year. Mean while this will be the year that I beef up my modern vinyl collection...starting with Brothers

see earlier in the thread for details

if you are keen but just cant settle on a topic let me know. i have plenty of topic ideas ready to go that might suit your interests

It takes science to make those ultra sexy librarians that you see in the sex magazines.
